The saddle is to be used on my Alvarez 12-string guitar and came with plenty of length/thickness to get a great, custom fit! It is very dense bone and I see very little porosity on the edges. The intonation gave a great starting point and only took a few passes with the file to bring it spot on. I highly recommend this brand!

Be prepared to sand. but this is the right one for me, AND they have ALOT of different choices. Know your git, get out the measuring stuff and go for it.

There is no perfect drop-in saddle, but if you own a Martin D18 or D28, you will likely only have to sand the height down. There's a lot of material to remove, but better too much than not enough. It's a lengthy process since bone is such a hard material, but the end result is worth it. A belt sander may speed up the process, but I recommend switching to hand sanding for the finish work. Mark your desired position with a pencil and straightedge, and make sure you sand it flat. A yardstick may help in keeping it totally perpendicular to the sanding surface. There is no difference in tone compared to my original Martin saddle and it looks just like the original too! This saddle is the one you need.

Have an acoustic that sounds great but the intonation is off as you go up the neck. This saddle kept the good tone but improved the intonation a great deal. Very pleased.

The bone is very nice, very dense, with hardly any transparency when held up to a light. It didn't affect my intonation, even after I sanded it down to fit (I will have to be sanding it down a bit more the next string change :P) so it is compensated correctly, probably better than what it replaced. I really like that they included sandpaper, that helped so much! They also direct you to helpful how to videos. As for sound, I'm not sure if it improved, since I now have new strings, and they always sound brighter and janglier than I prefer. It hasn't hurt the sound, however, and I do think my sustain has increased. I'll update if there is any drastic change once the strings have mellowed a bit.

Nice compensated saddle that is easy to install. It definitely helps improve your sound especially if you are replacing a plastic one. Recommended.

Only had it for a couple days but all I can say is wow! I replaced the saddle on my cheap acoustic with this and it really helped open this guitar up. Before my cheapy sounds muddy has a much nicer sound. For 15 dollars can not go wrong. Did a little bit of sanding they even sent sandpaper with it nice touch.

I purchased the O size bone saddle to replace the original on an early 70s Gibson J-100. The specs on these older guitars are quite a bit different from current models, particularly regarding the saddle width, which is very thin at 3/32". I contacted MacNichol Guitars to tell them what I needed, and they were very helpful in getting this piece close to the specs I would need to easily make final adjustments myself. This involved quite a bit of extra labor on their part, which they did without any hesitation. The upgrade to bone made an obvious improvement to tone, and my final results were were much easier to achieve thanks to their help. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again, and would encourage anyone to contact them with questions or problems. Very professional, thorough, and a great help!
