I like name brand products and Frigidaire is certainly an old one. This is a higher rated (12,000 BTU) unit designed for bigger rooms or to cool an entire small apartment. Installation is designed for double hung windows and all needed parts are included. The unit is really heavy--about 70 pounds--so you will need some help installing this but installation itself is straightforward. You can install this in any window more than 25 inches wide and 16 inches high--basically mostly anywhere.Note that this is a 220V unit and will not plug into a standard 110 volt outlet. You need to be sure you have the appropriate voltage outlet proximate to where you want to install this and the appropriate plug configuration (it looks like a dryer outlet.)A neat additional feature of this unit is that it has a heating function which can be used in the cooler months for supplemental or even basic heating in some climates. Note that I believe that it is pretty expensive to heat with electricity so you may want to investigate a bit before committing to using this as your primary source of heat.A display on the fron acts like a thermostat and gives you the settings including temperature. A remote control allows you to operate this from a distance and works well. I found it to be pretty quiet in operation with any mechanical noise on the outside.Cooling is quick and abundant. I find that I can cool my one bedroom apartment pretty easily even when the outside temp is above 85. This unit is especially good at removing humidity which may be just as important as the cooling. I use a floor fan to direct cool air into the bedroom when circulation isn't getting the job done.Good compact unit witih a pretty robust cooling capacity and nice features.

All the features of this product worked very well, heat, cool and fan. I’m very happy with the price and the quality, but it is a little loud. It is easy to install if you have the correct skills. Please take note of the fact that it is 220 and will not plug into a standard plug. This is crucial information.

We don't have central a/c and on the days when the temps get above 85 degrees, it can feel much hotter in on the second floor of our house. So I got this to install in an upstairs hall window.First thing to know is this requires a 220V outlet, not a standard 120V. Nothing an electrician can't fix though.Second thing to know is this a/c is HEAVY. The specs say it's 71 pounds and I'm definitely inclined to believe it. Two people are necessary to install this in the window.Installation was fairly easy. It has accordion style expansion sides to close the gap if the windows are more than 19 inches wide. It's designed to install in windows that open vertically, not horizontally. The front display provides a digital readout and the unit has great Fan Only, Eco, Cool and Heat options. Yes, heat! So it can serve as a source of heat as well (although that would get expensive quickly). I love that there's a light to tell you when to change/clean the filter. The remote control is self explanatory and requires AAA batteries. It's powerful enough to cool the air upstairs and we use it in conjunction with another a/c unit we have downstairs to really move the cool air through the house. Very happy that I got this -- makes the hot days much more bearable!

Most people know that Frigidaire has been around for decades and makes great products. This is a solid built air conditioner. We ordered the 12,000 BTU unit. Yes it has a bit more noise than the smaller unit but that's to be expected. This thing pumps out some serious cold air.In case you didn't notice, you need to make sure that you have a 240VAC outlet! It will not run on 110 volts! In fact the plug is specifically proprietary to fit only a 240 volt outlet. When you're dealing with a unit this powerful it has to have that type of voltage. It's a pretty simple job for an electrician to install a 240 VAC outlet if you don't have one.Yes it blows heat as well, which you would probably only need for emergencies. The cold air is what was important to us. We tested it in our living room and it definitely puts out more cold air than the living room needed. This is more or less a backup unit for us in case our AC goes down. But it's great piece of mind to know it's ready to go if ever we need it.The front menu system is very clean and aesthetic and will let you know when the filter needs cleaning as well. Remote control is pretty simple and easy to understand as well.As some have mentioned, this unit is definitely heavy and will take two people to install it. Make sure you have a vertical window to work with....it's not meant for horizontal opening windows.

First off. This is a bit noisy but I think that’s to be expected for a 12k btu ac. I do like that it has heating and cooling mode so I can keep it installed year round. It’s very heavy so expect two person lift. This company makes pretty good stuff so I’d expect it to last awhile.
