Have had these things in a toolbox for decades... Great for testing coils or magnetos to see of the electricity is getting to the plug... I wish they could make this simple thing a little tougher...

I have bought this tool to facilitate my work in the workshop. I can recommend this for light work at home. It is very useful to see the operation of the ignition coil.The material is light so you should not abuse its use or placement. If you treat it right it can last a long time.

It does work, the problem is the spring and bulb get cockeyed inside the chamber. You have to check it every time you install it. If you don't you'll get a bad test on a good circuit. Definitely a cheap device and probably not the most reliable, but for the price and with a little due diligence it will work.

I had a real need for this product due to an ignition problem with a twin engine 22 HP lawn mower engine. Upon receiving these I tried to use them to diagnose an intermittent problem with a weak spark. Only one worked and the other showed no spark at all which was not possible. Upon switching the good spark tester to the other cylinder it showed continuous spark. After swapping the LED between them it was clear that the LED lamp was faulty. I then switched to my old adjustable spark air gap tester from Auto Zone which proved to be more reliable. The negative reviews about "no quality control at the Chinese factory" were accurate. Went back to Amazon today for a full refund.
