I was really excited to use this but it doesn't fit my lifhtstands. It says mountable to any lightstand so I assumed it would but maybe mine are different? I don't know. But now I'll either return this or I need a new lightstand. It seems like a good product though, very sturdy. I just wish it fit.

This product is awful. We have 2 of these and the space to put the hot shoe is BARELY big enough to fit a hot shoe on. The screw on the side to adjust the sizing of the space is just long enough to put a hot shoe on. If you unscrew it too much (meaning just a hair bigger than what your hot shoe is), the screw and spring will come out and you have to reassemble it. This just happens to be a load of fun when you are trying to get your lights setup for a reception and the bridal party are about to be introduced. I do not recommend this.

Beefy build (solid metal body) instills confidence when using Speedlite atop a light stand. Ratcheted 180° tilt firmly locks at any of 16 incremented steps. When precision is required, fine-tuning the flash angle must be accomplished by adjusting the tilt on the flash head.Flash shoe is just long enough to accommodate the length of a standard flash foot. Attachment requires a bit more care when mounting a Speedlite with weather-resistant boot, as the rubber tends to prevent foot from easily sliding into the cold-shoe mount. But, when seated properly, tightening the bracket's small metal thumb screw in combination with the flash's lever lock (or older large round foot locking screw) keeps the flash firmly in place.Thumbscrew to secure umbrella appears to be adequate. Umbrella shaft hole is straight in line with the flash base, not angled as some might prefer. The weak point in the construction is the thumbscrew for securing the holder to a light stand. In vertical orientation - sitting atop a light stand - this poses no difficulties. However, when the bracket is mounted horizontally - like on a boom stand or on a SuperClamp stud - with the bracket at a 90° bend, the weight of the Speedlight tends to twist against the mounting stud. Naturally, you'd just tighten the screw at the base to prevent rotation on the stud. But, when tightened, the rubber thumb paddle begins to feel "soft" and not only prevents the screw from being tightened firmly, but eventually the rubber paddle will break and detach from the screw head, exposing the Phillips head that it previously covered. After you pick the remaining rubber out of the screw head slots, it can continue to be tightened with with a screw driver close at hand.Otherwise, a good value and build quality should provide for a long-lasting and flexible Speedlite mounting accessory.

It's cheap and it gets the job done. The quality is nothing fancy but it seems durable. It has everything you need to set up a strobe and umbrella.

I guess I don't remember what I was expecting with this bracket when I originally put it on my wish list to buy later, but I had it in my head that these would be cheap-o plastic for the $10 price tag. Boy was I wrong. You could knock out a medium sized person if you put this in a tube sock! It's a nice sturdy metal bracket from top to bottom with exception of the adjustment knobs. The bottom knob unscrews to reveal an adjustable mounting adapter that will fit 1/4" or 3/8" mounts. The top cold shoe mount loosens and tightens acting like a clamp to keep your flash unit secure. The middle knob loosens to allow you to adjust the angle of the flash/umbrella.This is my first foray into light modification aside from basic diffusers, and I absolutely love the effects I get with both a white shoot through umbrella, as well as the silver reflective umbrella. These brackets are so handy, I'm glad I bought two. I'd highly recommend these to anyone looking for a nice quality budget friendly bracket.

While the unit is sturdy and well made, it is not exactly as pictured as far as the attachment of the cold shoe to the top of the bracket. The photo shows that the shoe can be removed by simply unscrewing it, leaving a 1/4" threaded stud sticking out of the top of the bracket. Instead, the shoe is actually held in place by two phillips head screws that go down through the shoe and into the bracket. I ordered this because I specifically wanted to replace the shoe with a different type of mount, but no such 1/4" threaded stud exists for that purpose. If you wish to use it "as is", as I suspect most people would, then don't hesitate to purchase it. But if you need the specific capability that I did and was expecting, you'll be disappointed.

Fotodiox has hit and miss items at times however, this product is definitely a bang for it's cost. The unit is heavy and feels professional. The only cheap plastic parts are the adjustments for tilt and the part that tightens to the adapter (to tripod/light stand). It comes with a removable metal adapter, which allows you to attach to 1/8" and 3/4" light stands. You can also remove it if required. The cold shoe is metal as well and acts like a vice. I wish the cold shoe was a little longer though.Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase. Definitely a great investment if your on a budget.Stay away from those cheap umbrella brackets offered by BestDealsUSA and etc. They're plastic and fall apart!

I weighed it out, Return it, or drill out the too small umbrella mounting hole so it will fit my umbrella. I went with drilling the hole out a bit and it worked. This Fotodiox bracket appears to be the same product as others on the market but half the price! All metal solid build. I wish it hadn't required the extra work to widen the hole but whatever, It's all done and working, so If you have a drill with some bits you can do what I did and purchase these two.

All metal construction and these are very sturdy. The delivery was much earlier than expected. I have had no problems fitting a flash and umbrella to them

This item is made from metal and doesn't have plastic as the Cowboy Studio ones. Handles are ergonomic and easy to use. This fits a standard light stand and the included adapter makes it easy to attach. Both umbrella and flash holder work fine. Recommend this one if you need to mount an umbrella and flash on a light stand. Great value for one who is new to flash photography and doesn't want to spend arm and a leg on a professional equipment.
