I bought this for my '03 F150,which is just old and starting to rust. Anyway, the hinge part (attached to the tailgate rusted and came off). This item is the official Ford replacement part, and it is not sturdy. It does work, but it is light duty plastic, very flimsy, especially where it snaps into the tailgate. I had to be very careful when I open/shut the tailgate. After a few uses, it broke. I used a large washer and a bolt/screw to re-attach the metal hinge part to the tailgate, which is a better alternative to this part. Not an engineer here, but Ford or someone should be able to make a better quality alternative replacement part. I would not recommend this part.

On my 92 f350 this was exactly what I needed, felt much better quality than the dorman pieces.The other side of the tailgate used e7tZ - 99430 b22-aIt also seems to be the exact same bushings in our 1997 f150

Item made of plastic. The part it replaced was metal. The part worked properly for about two weeks then broke. If you need this part, replace with a metal part. This item was used in a Ford F150.
