I use this for my 75 gallon Rio Negro biome tank. Keeps temperature rock steady, is easy to see the set temperature, and easy to change the set temperature.

Firstly, I like the look of this unit. Also, the digital readout is neat. The adjustments are incredibly easy. Once positioned correctly, it holds temp well. That being said, it is finicky with placement. I initially had it in the center of my tank, vertically, with the red knob protruding, exactly like the directions say. All was well, until my first water change. After that I kept getting the error that it needed more circulation. You can unplug it and it will reset, but it continued to eventually error. So, I moved one of my large airstone directly underneath, and it has worked flawlessly ever since. So make sure it is placed where there is plenty of movement.I have read that others have had luck with placing it fully submerged horizontally. But I chose to stick with what the directions say. Plus horizontally would mean the digital readout would be sideways.I have the 300 watt in a 55 gallon. I have the temp set at 78.5°. My accurate thermometer reads between 78.5° and 78.9° at all times. Not too bad. My Eheim was a bit more stable, but really sucked to try to change the temp as the dial was awful. Plus after 2 years I started to notice some moisture in the glass, which is what led me to this purchase.

Very well made thermostat. The outer protective casing is great to avoid fishes being scalded. Nice feature from Fluval. Setting the temp is also very easy with the toggle switch to increase/decrease temp value. The display is large enough for easy readout under water and is very clear. Would reccommend it to all. Been using it for just 2 weeks now. No issues as of yet, fingers crossed. Will update review if anything more to be reported for a long term review.

I was having problems keeping my new tropical aquarium temperature stable, even though I was using the correct sized heater for my tank. So I did some research into my fluctuating heat problem. I found on the internet that my problem might be caused, by my house being too cold, due to me living in the countryside. It recommended that I used the next sized heater up from mine or to use 2 heaters to stabilize the temperature. Being that my heater I had was a 200 wat I decided to go for a 300 watt heater. My next problem was, which make to go for.. For this again I turned to the internet, on the reviews done on the different makes.I was guided towards the "Fluval E300" by being one of the top recommended by the review web sites. From there I went on the Amazon web site. I checked the customer reviews. They were very mixed, in their opinions. So I was unsure but noticed there was a couple of reviews that stated that if you followed what they had done, all was well & that would rectify those problems the other reviewers were having, while using this item. So it was at this point I ordered it, even though it was quite expensive compared to some others at Amazon. It arrived the next day via Amazon Prime Delivery. I eagerly unpacked it and swapped it over. I followed what some of the other reviewers had stated to do, just so I could get the best out of this heater.1st; I placed it at a 45° angle in the aquarium, as per the other reviewers advice.2nd; I made sure it had a good water flow over it3rd; adjusted the temperature to what I required. Then left it alone to hopefully sort out my heating issues. The next day I went straight to the aquarium, to check the temperature of it, against my other thermostat placed on the opposite side of the aquarium to the heater, I was very skeptical at this point. Well low & behold it was within 0.4°c difference. Since having this "Fluval E300" heater I have checked the temperature on numerous occasions and the temperature hasn't changed, even during the night, when it is at it's lowest room temperature. I would definitely recommend these "Fluval E series" heaters but just be guided by the above advice and other helpful reviews please, and it will be a great product for you, just as it is for me5++ highly recommended itemtime has moved on now and at least 6month & still the heater is perfect keeping good temperature

I decided to purchase another heater for my 100 gallon tank... It is running 2 AquaClear 110 filters so there is constant water movement/circulation to the amount that my single heater(300W, I think... need to check) wasn't getting/keeping it quite warm enough... And I figured that it was probably working faily hard to keep it where it was, so my theory was that 2 heaters would run more efficiently, and ultimately also be more effective than the one without working very hard and putting alot of stress on the heaters... So far, I have been able to turn my original heater down considerably, and neither heater seems to be working too hard and the water temp stays at a constant 78 degrees... The cover on the heater keeps it nice and safe, the digital read out is very clear and easy to read and I didn't have any problem figuring out how to set the temperature...Overall, showed up timely, good, secure packaging, fair price, good quality heater... I would definitely purchase another one if necessary...***Update, Nov 7th...*** It's been 6+ months and the heater is still going strong... I still have it in my 100 gallon and actually, the other heater I was using with it seeming doesn't always work correctly. Sometimes it seems the thermostat part is not functioning and it keeps warning even after it reaches the desired temp or even when it is turned all the way down... So I took it out completely and the Fluval E300W still has no problem(that I can tell) keeping it warm enough by itself... So far so good now for about almost 3 months of working solo... I'd definitely recommend and would purchase again when necessary...

I read many reviews before I made my mind up on this heater. I will say I am sold on FLUVAL, as I currently own 2, 306 filters, 2, Q2 air pumps, and lastly 1, E200 and one E300 heater. I could not make up my mind with the first E200 or go with a E300 for a 55, I have two, am happy with both so this is about both since nothing but capacity changes with them, functions are the same. I can say, I had the old school type heaters, which seemed ok but had a hard time setting my temps just right. You know the drill, set the dial and wait a day, turn it back some, turn it up some, what a waste. With this heater it is SET and FORGET. With the color changing display you know what it is doing, or more so if there is a temp change more than 1 degree, it lets you know. I do have thermometers, the strip kind, I know I should get the real ones, howerver as the Fluval gives a real time, real temp display I do not think I will, I have also and do still, since these are new to me, check with a laser temp meter, so far both are to with in half a degree of the setting, Yes they do need water flow to work, so if you have HOB filter they would need to be close to that, I use canister filters with spray bar, so no problem there. One BIG plus for me, in my thoughts is the gaurd that keeps my fishes from rubbing up against a hot tube and burning themselves. The side mount is also usefull, as I have it on one of my tanks, my fish like the corner I would like to put it in, best second location is to the front, and the agles attachment lets you veiw the display. All in all, Very good, accurate heater, great display, great warnings if temp changes. I am so far happy with this unit, Hope if you a thinking of getting one of these do not hold back, In my opinion they work very well and you will be glad you did.
