Excellent sub woofer paired with Fluance powered speakers. One vital thing to remember however, is that unlike the powered speakers and turntables Fluance has not built the DB10 with dual voltage rating ( 120V to 240V range). It’s just 120V. Therefore in 240V countries a step down transformer is required. My mistake was assuming all Fluance products were dual rated - so I rate the DB10 sub woofer based on my second purchase. I cooked the first one. At US$199 it is value for money. It get’s expensive when you add in the shipping cost when not in the ‘free delivery’ zone of USA and Canada which to Australia was more than the purchase price.

Shipping took forever! Once it hit the states it bounce back and forth to the same parts of Ohio and back to Illinois. Shipping took so long I thought it was lost . I have asked for refund , but it arrived today . Needless to say I will be sending it back. There is no deep bass . Struggles to get into the low ranges . Reminds of a blown woofer . I would not recommend this product even if you can wait for the shipping. You will be really disappointed.

Powerful enough for our living room without disturbing the neighbours. It offers plenty of option to adjust the way it fits in our audio EQ. Upper range might lack a bit of definition if you set the crossover too high so it cannot compensate for speaker set above 100hz. The auto feature takes a few seconds to kick in but once it is there it really adds greatly to the sound spectrum of many music from rock to jazz and more pop/electro. I usually changes the settings in the back according the the music genre but that is probably only to fine tune to my expectations; those that come from a no subwoofer background. Overall for the price I’m quite happy. I read reviews about over hearing issues without adding a heat sink but did not encounter it yet.

Has a great finish and sounds great for the price point. To me the overall weight of the entire sub and cabinet are not heavy like a higher end sub with a huge magnet. Still works well for my office setup.

This was purchased with intent on deep bass to layer my sound. It just is missing a little bit of umf. Has a hollow mid to low bass sound.

This is a very good subwoofer, solidly build at a very reasonable price. It has all the inputs you need, including speaker level inputs. Arguably this is the best way to hook up your sub, because it gets the same input as the main speakers and then low pass filters it. I have tried this sub with a 35 W rms/ch amplifier and relatively small hi-fi speakers and a 100 W rms/ch amplifier with large floor standing hi-fi speakers. In both cases it really boosts the low frequencies making the sound full, deep and well separated. For starters, set the volume level to just under half and the low pass filter to 80 Hz, listen to a variety of music genres and adjust to your liking, if needed. Don't let the 45 W rms rating of the sub's amplifier fool you, this is plenty for most people in most settings, unless you are operating a discotheque. The sound output is deep, musically pleasing and you can feel the low bass notes in your gut!

A while back I started to build up my stereo system so I could finally listen to my vinyl again. I bought Klipsch RP600M speakers, the Fluance RT85 turntable, and paired it with an older Yamaha amp. Given the abuse my 63-year-old ears took decades ago this I knew I didn't want to blast my music (not to mention I don't need to annoy my neighbors (I live in a small apartment with neighbors on either side). I'd heard the Klipsch might be a bit 'bright' sounding (code for not super base?). And after about 2 weeks I saw that while the Klipsch has great detail and expansive sound stage I was forced to use the EQ to bring up the base on base centric music such as Mingus and Thundercat. So I went to the forums and asked for recommendations for a sub that sounded good a lower (40% range) volumes. Once the laughter subsided and a few 'That's an oxymoron man! you can't have both base and low volumes'. But I kept researching and eventually ran across this Fluance DB10W 10-inch sub. The price was right, it has a good set of controls and connection variety (important for my older amp). So I tried it. Within 24 hours of setting it up I knew I'd found what I needed and Fluance once again hit the mark! Thank you Fluance both for the turntable and the sub.(btw... at the risk of being a noob... what is 'Sheerness' I didn't give the sub a ratting on that because I don't know what it means, does it mean sharpness, definition, clarity, transparency, brightness... once again does the language of audio fall short? :) )
