Your cart is empty. The FLIR TA74 adds capabilities, simplifies challenges, and gives you the best readings with your existing meter. The narrow, 18-inch long flexible coil clamp and locking mechanism allows you take measurements in tight or awkward spots – ideal for multiple conductor measurements, double-wrap requirements, and deeper access. The connection is a standard banana plug and the output is a voltage signal, so it’s compatible with most DMMs and clamp meters, regardless of brand.

I recently bought the DM285 and the Ta72 flex probe. This setup replaces and beats to dust all of my other Fluke meters including those with Fluke connect. Features not mentioned in this video that blew me away (other than the obvious). Multiple simultaneous readings on 1 screen! You can take temp while checking volts, amps, hz, farrads, etc... . The bluetooth feature with the flir tools app demolishes fluke connect for the same above reason and ease of use. The flexibility of the meter itself is astounding. Readings changing rapidly? Simply turn on course resolution. Want a complete Amp picture? Turn on Max/Min/avg. The current amp reading displays center screen while the max amp is top left, the min amps are top center and the average amps are top right on 1 screen. Or all show to the left of the screen while viewing the thermal image. The feature and menu option flexibility goes on and on. By far the best meter ive had. It even beats the fluke 279fc in side by side comparison. Flir wins here.

These flexible current probes are nice. You don't have to tap wires and you can get around things that your clamps can't. They also reach further than clamps. But clamps are easier to use where clamp meters work. So there definitely are both people who like clamps over flexible cable but also places where clamps or flexible cable probes better.I now have this and the stand alone Extech Instruments MA3018. Both have 18in flexible current probes. It's just the Extant Ma3018 is a stand alone meter and this FLIR TA74 requires a probe. When using this FLIR TA74, both the probe and your meter need batteries. Th Extech and your meter can be used at the same time or at separate parts of your work-site because they are separate units. Both are about the same price. But this FLIR TA74 does seem to be one step up in quality. The FLIR TA74 manual talks about getting it certified and re-calibrated where I don't remember the Extant documentation talking about that. To each their own, but I thought you should know that Amazon sells a stand-alone unit for the same price. They both seemed to get pretty much the same readings in my testing. There are other brands too but I've not had experience with them.In the end, this is a quality probe that works great. Remember, it's only for AC. I've also found that they don't seem to read small voltages well (I found that until I got to trying it on my microwave power cord while running the microwave that I didn't get a reading off power cords). But for reading voltage next to your panel or wherever you have real voltage, it works great.

This tool allows you to use a standard meter to test 30, 300, and 3000 amp sources without blowing the fuse in your tester unit. You need to have a separate multimeter to use this. It does not come with one. The flexibility is great. It's easy to use by unscrewing one side and putting it around whatever you need to test. The flash light is a nice addition. The price of this item is $20 cheaper at FLIRdirect.com. You can also order with bluetooth for about $50 more here on amazon. If you need this item, I would choose one of the choices listed above. If I find a professional, who can use the higher amp test, I will update my feedback. This item works as described.

The FLIR TA74 current probe is designed to let you take measurements in tight spots due to the narrow, flexible coil clamp.A banana plug connection provides a reading on a digital multimeter as AC voltage.I use mine with a FLIR DM93 and an Amprobe APB5XPA.The TA74 gas a switchable current range, from 30A to 3000A.However, I have only used the 30A setting in my residence. One useful feature is the inclusion of dual LEDs for illumination in dark spots. The TA74 has an AC current bandwidth of 45Hz to 500Hz.Position error is between 1.0 and 2.0% depending on distance.Resolution is 1mV.The max conductor diameter capacity is 4.7" or 12cm.The coil length is 18" with a diameter of 0.3" or 7.5mm.The probe takes 2-AAA batteries. They are included. The probe weighs around 1 pound. It is made in Taiwan. It is safety rated as CAT IV 600V,CAT III 1000V and adopts standards EN61010-1, EN61010-2-032.A limited lifetime warranty is included.Indicators on the probe show current range selected. There is a button for the worklight LEDs and power. This probe is incredibly easy to use and very accurate. It is a very versatile and professional tool and I would readily recommend it.

This FLIR Flex Current Probe is a unique and innovative accessory to allow readings in areas and ways that were impossible with standard meters. The 10" and 18" models allow you to take measurements in areas that a traditional clamp meter won't reach. You can flex the coil in and around wires and objects very easily. I found it to be much more easy and I was much more confident of the readings. In many situations that before I would have to rearrange wires or remove more components, I was able to get a good reading is just a minute. It is a real timesaver and that is the best part. It is also safer for this reason too.The readings are accurate and were the same compared to using the clamp on a few tests performed. The range options do allow up to 3000A True RMS AC measurements which is great. And since the 10" and 18" loops are large, several wires can be grouped together easily for multi-conductor measurements. The LED light is great. No need to carry a separate flashlight. It is bright but not too bright nor too narrow of a beam.It is very useful and useable. The plugs worked fine in all of my meters including Extech, Klein and Amprobe. This now has a spot in my daily carry bag. Maybe in the future FLIR will come out with a model that has a meter built-in? Great idea and possibly the future of clamp meters.
