About this item

  • Material & Size:3/4"head Diameter x 54" Long and 1/4" shank Diameter ,#65 Carbon Steel cutting head with a spring steel shank. The drill bit is of an auger type, with a self-feeding threaded tip followed by the cutting edges and the flutes for chip removal.
  • Flexibility:lexible auger drill bit has a non-slip three flat grip,it has been heat treated for optimum strength and memory, all will flex to some degree the shorter bits are not as flexible as longer ones
  • Simple works: hole in top end allows you to pull wire, flexible shaft allows for unique self-feeding drilling and suitable for drilling holes down the length of a wall and through hidden studs, with no damage to wall board, plaster, or any exterior finish
  • Strength & Durability: our screw point installer bit has ultra-sharp threads which provide better pulling power and faster drilling speeds. It moves quickly through obstructions to easily drill and fish wire through existing walls. RPM rule of thumb: The larger the diameter of the drill bit the slower the RPM (Larger bit grabbing and binding ! Slow it down and try again.)
  • Guide Ball Kit :When the fixing ring is in the right position (the diameter of the ring will be larger than the drill bit so that it can be easily moved), it can be fixed in this position by using the L-wrench included in the kit.
  • Applicable Scenario :the auger drill bit fits most standard size power drills ,suit for walls, kitchen counters, sidewalks, recessed lighting, camera mounts

TIPS:

  • NEVER USE A CABLE BIT INSIDE A WALL WITH EXISTING WIRING OR PLUMBING!!!
  • For larger diameter bits you will need a power drill with a high torque rating.
  • Cable bits are not indestructible, too tight of an arch when drilling can make them snap.
  • If you are drilling wall keep your power drill close to the floor to prevent over stressing the bit.

The Function of Drill Ball

Worked great in combination with a drill bit ball on it to help keep the tip from drilling too close to the edge while inside the wall

I like the fact it has a ball to allow you to hold while drilling, and it is made of strong material. This is a long bit that allowed me to drill through 2 studs, and having holes to fish the wire on either end is a huge plus.

Bought this drill bit for a big re-wiring job I got. The drilling head detached from the shank on the first hole and was lodge in the sub floor. It took me an hour to get it out and two hours to go buy a replacement at home depot. I'm 400$ all in on this piece of absolute garbage! If you're drilling through cardboard/jello/air then this is the bit for you! I thought for the cost it would hold up. My previous bits from rack-o-tiers lasted years.

So happy with my 6' 3/4" drill bit. I have used these long drill bits, off and on for abt. 30 yrs. But in the past I have only been able to find them with a very slender business end, perhaps 3/8", maybe a little more. I just "got by" with these for threading the slender wires needed for burglar alarms, telephones, etc. But those bits would often drill down and become embedded in wood and sometimes break off.I had no idea I could get a 3/4" until I began looking for something that I could get to drill a path hole large enough to accommodate the connector heads on Cat 6a ethernet cable. It was easy and the cable just dropped thru the path I made. Of course you never know what you will hit drilling blind, only by the sense of touch. But I was lucky and didn't hit a nail and this bit drilled down thru 10 inches of wood (thru a 2"x4" board lying flat against 2"x8" floor joist) all the way to a cement foundation. I went slow and when I hit cement, I knew it. Of course, I stopped and went below my porch to see where the bit was. Didn't see it, but could tell it was completely embedded in the the 2"x8" floor joist. board. I pulled the long drill bit out; and took a 3" cookie cutter to cut a shallow exploratory hole into the floor joist and exposed the hidden path of my drill bit. Once it was exposed, it was easy getting the big connector heads on Cat6 ethernet from the height of a wall switch in my house down thru my porch which gave me a path to my basement. The shaft is very strong, never wobbled. I remember the slender light duty bits I used to buy years ago would wobble, often embed, and sometimes break. And I don't think I paid any more for this 3/4" drill bit than I paid for the more slender long drill bits I have used in the past. Apparently the last one failed and had to be discarded, as I couldn't find one. I put this new 6' long drill bit up for the next time I will need to sink a Cat6 cable down thru a wall. It looks as good as new. Don't hesitate to get this for pulling Cat6 cable.

I need to drill a couple holes for pulling cable. This worked fine for that. The ball helps keep you off the edges, it's a nice feature. It's not the best quality (but, you know that because it's a low price compared to other name brands). The end that goes in the drill had some burrs and didn't seat well in the drill. The black coating on the steel started splintering off with the first use. If you need something that you'll be using a lot, maybe get a better quality one. If you only need to drill a few holes, then this is fine and is a lot cheaper than hiring an electrician.

Flexibility is very limited. Was not practical for the needs required. Had to ream hole in ball for it to fit over drill bit too.

My unit didn't come in a box and was delivered with half of the bit outside its plastic packaging, somehow with no damage to it. My first use was not very promising. The black coating flaked off the auger bit before I even inserted it into the wall to drill. When I started drilling, the 3-sided end connected to the drill stripped so easily without the bit getting stuck or anything. I was able to get the job done, but this product is not very high quality from its construction to its packaging.

Used for running wiring in my son's house. Note don't be as dumb as I was. Didn't have a stopper for the ball so I just used black tape to hold in place worked fine till the ball didn't stop the bit. lol good thing I was watching when the bit kept going on through the header and into the second-floor flooring. Stopped it before it went all the way through. But the bit was very flexible and did a great job.
