I finally was able to tap the trees... This bit is sharp and cuts clean. The holes are perfectly size for taps. Zero complaints about this drill bit.

Very sharp and is designed to self clean the hole. Obviously sized to fit a tap, and that it does very well. If you're having difficulty with regular bits for tapping, give this one a try!

This drill is very sharp and aggressive. It made quick work of tapping sugar maples and left very clean holes. I have a home-brew vacuum system and this bit made holes that fit my check-valve taps securely with a good seal. It didn’t leave behind chips or dust and instead pulled clean twists of wood out along the flutes.I’m sure I could tap with any old 5/16” bit and have good success, but this one works very well for tapping trees.I probably wouldn’t recommend it as highly at the claimed $30 price, but the current $16 price is not too high for a good quality bit to cut clean holes that don’t need to have chips scraped out when tapping.

The bit is nice and sharp and drilled into the tree like butter. It seems like the old bit I would use did not do as nice of a job pulling the wood debris out of the hole. I didn't have to keep removing the bit over and over to clear the hole with this new bit. The edge of the bit was nice and sharp to the touch, which made for a clean edged hole. I'm sure any new bit would be an improvement, but this worked great so far. The hole size was perfect for our taps. Drilling was very easy this year.

This drill bit is sharp and bites into the trees making a very neat hole. My only complaint that since it’s made for tapping there should be marks on it showing for depth.

This is a quality drill bit, is quite sharp out of the package, and does a good job in green hardwoods as you'd want for maple sugaring. I don't see much of a difference compared to my standard DeWalt drill bits though, and considering you can get a whole set of regular HSS bits at a similar price point I'm not sure what the primary benefit is here. If the bit came with a depth stop collar to make consistently-deep boreholes for your spiles, I'd be more inclined to say it's worth the money, but there doesn't seem to be much special going on here.
