It is a plastic disk with a suction cup on the back. And a plastic hourglass in the center with very minuscule white sand.It is not much. But that's all it takes to make this product work as it should. And it works good for me.

I saw a lot of the poor reviews (should've listened) but decided to give it a chance because it was one of the better-looking timers on Amazon. The moment I tried sticking it on, it fell down (even tried adding water to it and still no help). It sucks that there aren't really any other ones like this on Amazon because it would definitely keep me in check from taking too long of hot showers.

My kids and I are learning Spanish so normalizing it is great. The sticky part suction on the back works fine, you spin it no issues.Half of the people in this house are autistic and the other has ADHD, so losing track of time in water is just, something that happens. Zone out in there. It’s nice to have an idea for context so we know when to get out.

The sand often gets stuck so timer not accurate. Easily comes apart from the suction backing.

Good for timing showers, I wish the connection to the sun room cup was a little easier to put on. With ours when you rotate the dial to start the timer it sometimes will pop off in your hand. Kind of cheap but it works.

I'm almost tempted to just install the timer into the shower--almost. In our previous house, we placed it on the glass door of the shower, and it worked fairly well. It only fell once every few weeks. In our current house, we use a curtain and have to place it on porcelain tiles. It doesn't hold very well and falls about halfway into the cycle.Oh well.

This item breaks easily. The first time I tried to stick the timer to a tile surface, it dropped from counter height to a wood floor and shattered the hourglass inside the outer plastic cover. The manufacturer seems to be aware of this problems because the installation instructions state, "Please note - The shower timer is prone to falling from the shower wall on occasion, place in an area where this may avoid breakage." Unfortunately I discovered this warming too late. However, it seems to me that one would want to install the timer in the shower at appoximately eye level, possibly over a porcelain tub, and this would not be "an area where this may avoid breakage." Very disappointed...
