This battery pack has undersized wires (24awg; OEM: 18AWG) and Will NOT take a charge. It is junk. All replacement battery pack buyers should also be aware that their newer Charge4's may not come apart in exactly the same way that most online videos show, just be very careful.

As with many consumer products, "no user-serviceable parts inside". But here's the scoop: to avoid doing cosmetic damage, get one of those blue plastic prying sticks that are sold for cell phone and other consumer electronics case openers. Where the grille seam is on the bottom side, pry the rear half on both sides up. Under that there are two screws that hold the grille on. Take that off, and from there it's screws all the way down. Sorry, too many steps to spell it all out. Search for JBL Charge 4 battery replacement and you'll find sites with pictures.

This is a form factor replacement for the rechargeable (but not intentionally user-replaceable) battery in the JBL Charge 4 portable bluetooth speaker.I own three of these, and often pack one to take on trips.I hate that the battery isn't replaceable, but that's on JBL.The disassembly process is still ongoing. I am following a YouTube third party instruction to replace the battery and will report back if any additional problems arise. What I can see so far is that the form factor is correct and the battery capacity is at least close to spec.One star less for not providing instructions with the battery.
