Reasonable robust enough for fairly thick branches, not enough power for most over 1/2 inches. Depends upon age and species of wood. I had an older type anvil cutter that was more powerful, it broke after 50 years. This was a reasonable replacement.

Disappointed in this shear, the regular style pruning shears and the lopper I have from Fiskars, all of which I've acquired over about the last 10 years. To their credit, those other style shears are a step up from this one, but they're also not anywhere close to what I'd call premium. The loppers don't like to actually cut half the time, and I broke the regular hand shears as well and had to warranty them. Compared to even other cheap pruning shears I've used over the years, this one just doesn't stack up either. I find that when I'm cutting through something tough and stringy, these want to bend and fold over just like a traditional shear (especially my fiskars lopper), and that's the whole reason I like an anvil style, so fail. They seem to make their stuff cheap and just replace the few that are returned under warranty rather than make a high quality tool that will last even under rigorous use. I'll be avoiding this brand from now on and hopefully I'll find one that works well again. I just wish the old generic pair I had didn't have the plastic handle disintegrate after decades of use or I'd still be using those because they were awesome. Sigh.

I liked these so much that I bought a second pair. Easily sharpened. Get an emeryboard or fingernail file. Puts a nice fine edge on them. I use them as pruners for outdoor plants. Have had a pair of these for years. Fits my hands well, but no springs to help recoil the handle, not a big deal as the travel length is pretty short, I've never had them stick. Always give them a squirt of oil in the spring and they're good to go!Highly recommended.

I've used this brand of pruners for years. The handle is comfortable and the locking clip is easy to reach with your thumb. They stay sharp for a long time and take well to sharpening when needed. Good product and good value.

Sera muy de 8 pulgadas pero la apertura de corte es muy limitada, es mucho menor de lo que se ofrece, cualquier tijera de podadora sencilla tiene mucho mayor apertura, ahora si me decepcionó Fiskars, no vale la pena.

They are very sharp and we prefer the anvil as to the bypass type. The anvil type is always sure to cut through.

I recently purchased these Fiskars Power-Lever pruners from Amazon. I use them mostly for cutting the tree limbs up to 3/4 inches in width of a bunch of dying pine trees that I have. Some of the branches are hard as a rock dead ones and some are softer live ones. They work well on both. They perform equally well on regular lighter duty pruning such as bushes and roses.I have been using this design for over 30 years and despite some of the reviews you may have read here, they are as well made as ever. This is my 3rd pair and they have literally lasted 10 years even under my demanding use.I've tried others which are generally more expensive with different designs but I have always been disappointed either with their uncomfortable design or lack of leverage. I've finally quit looking and just buy these when they go on sale.Likes:Comfortable design in your hand. Cushioned grips and very importantly, great leverage and a sharp long lasting blade. And by the way, did you see they have a lifetime guarantee? I actually used it once when one of the pairs I had developed a problem (really due to my hard use). It was an online submission and they simply requested a picture. Ten days later, a new pair! And last but not least the price, very economical for the quality and how long they last.Dislikes:Really only one. Sometimes the locking lever flips up and locks during use. You just have to push it back down with your thumb as you are using them and continue on. Not a deal breaker by any means.NOT a dislike but just use a little WD-40 on them now and then and they will continue to perform like new. Conclusion:Watch Amazon for a low price and buy it! You won't be disappointed.

I like the Anvil design of secateurs and wanted a larger pair. I have had a par of the Friskar's two handled pruners for a number of years - and thought they may also be good. They are....Only issue is the size of them!Certainly OT for the dainty handed gardener!!But met all my ther objectivs.....
