This is an update to my original review in which I was disappointed that this was not the same as the super-premium original orange-handled hatchet... despite customer reassurances to the contrary. Now after having used this, however, I have chosen to give it five stars on its own merits. The short handle enables the user to carry it inside a backpack... AFTER one has fashioned some sort of reasonable edge cover as the huge plastic one provided is fine for inside a workshop but is not a portable option. The "sheath" was the reason I gave four rather than five stars. For such a light tool, this hatchet's geometry enables it to split small wood effectively. (Because of the head's slippery coating, it's best to split kindling that is lying on its side rather than standing on end.) However, it is also an effective limbing or chopping hatchet as its sharp edge bites very effectively into wood. For processing small wood, building shelters, carrying on hikes, and potentially personal defense, this hatchet is a good very good purchase!

The handle on my old hatchet from 1970 was cracking, so I decided to buy a new one. I was expecting this new one to cut like the old one. I was surprised. I would guess that the new one cuts limbs with about half the effort. Kicking myself for waiting so long. Note, I keep my old hatchet sharp.

This hatchet is great quality just like the larger fiskars axes. People can't believe when I take out 4 inch diameter trees in a couple of swings. You can also easily split small to medium logs with it. I just wish it was slightly bigger mainly so my hands wouldn't be quite as close to what I'm cutting. But as a light weight portable utility axe it certainly serves its purpose and then some.

It’s a great axe, I broke my wrist while using it. Yea f me, so maybe it’s not for everyone, it’s very good, it needs honed it needs strops, it needs a better sheesh, it is best to use Swiss actions, but this did work, it isn’t for cutting metals, it’s not for wire, it won’t chop a padlock, as my neighbors wanted to do, however I suggest wearing a thick glove, one that supports outer and inner bones of the wrist, upon cutting I felt a tear in my arm, afterwards I had severe pains, I thought arthritis, do to pandemic crap, I couldn’t go to hospital, so I wrapped my wrist, it’s certainly not good, the axe wasn’t harmed though.

軽いのですが、ヘッドが重たく焚火用の薪割りにうってつけです。立木の枝打ちも余裕です。ただ、本製品とは関係ありませんが、薪を割るときは川の手袋とゴーグル（サングラス）が必須です。薪がこんなに飛ぶとは知りませんでした。薪を割るだけでなく、薪を削るフェザリングもできます。良いものを手に入れられて良かったです。

The best hatchet I have ever used. It’s lightweight, sharp and functional. I will probably put it in my hunting backpack this fall. It’s that light.

arrived quickly and was exactly as described, though it seemed almost too light when i used it, it was able to cut through every thing i needed it to. all in all an excellent little hatchet and it was around 10-15$ cheaper then i could have gotten it at the local stores for. if u want a good quality hatchet for a good price then this is for you.

I own the big brother to this (27") and I'm well pleased with it. This seems like it would be great for short excursions and day hikes as well as light duty limb removal and trimming. I only gave it 4 stars for value for money and giftable because I'm sure there are other very good hatchets that are a dollar or two less, and giftable, not everyone would appreciate it. That said I'm pleased with the item. The stickers come off easily without leaving residue and the sheath is pretty good. The hatchet and sheath I give 5 stars for the money as they seem to be of pretty good quality.

Love this small axe. For the money, I think it would be difficult to find something as tough and effective. It’s not a 150$ hatchet, so keep that in mind and you’ll be happy. I think of it similar to the way I think of Mora knives...sharp, effective, affordable. A great tool for yard work or other activities that you don’t want to put your more expensive tools through, like chopping roots or battoning through kindling. Also, very customizable. I’ve seen videos online of people modifying the carry handle into a belt sheath, I may do something like that. Highly recommend this tool. Fast shipping too. I wish it was maybe 1-1/2” longer but it’s still totally fine as is. Will be getting the larger version next.

Great hatchet, the blade is strong and sharp no problems cutting wood. I have the Fiskars axe as well and have not had any problems with either one. I promise these products will last and hold up to your needs! Don't look no more these Fiskars products are all you need! They also make great gifts! The company even takes their time to email you to make sure you are enjoying their product! Great customer support! Also just to let you know I am a real person and no I am not being paid to say these things I love my Fiskar products and think every house hold should have them!

I absolutely love this axe, it arrived quickly and was razor sharp on arrival. It's very light and the head guard is well fitted and sturdy. It holds an edge extremely well as I've axed through logs and such and it's still been sharp as hell. The handle is hollow which makes it lighter. I know some people have a preference over wood or plastic but after using this I only think that that opinion is based on aesthetic value. This axe is really tough and the only way it'd snap is if you were using the handle instead of the blade, like with a wooden axe.
