This item shipped and arrived fast. This D90 series 1000 pound Neo magnet is supper strong. The outer housing is almost 4 inches in diameter and made from stainless steel with a round eyelet style tie down. The magnet bolts to the housing with a stainless steel Phillips head bolt and it comes pre-assembled. The included rope is the size and style of 550 parachute cord. The rope is strong and lightweight. I am not sure of the length of the rope but I would say you get 100 feet with this kit. I was really surprised of the grabbing and holding force of this magnet. I ordered it to have handy on the boat. I wish I had this in the past and thank goodness I have not had to use this to try and retrieve something but I guaranty if this magnet finds metal it is going to grab and hold on to it. The cost was fair and I rated this kit 5 stars.

Like others have said, it's really unlikely that this magnet will lift half a ton; even testing it on everyday objects, it's a pretty weak connection. Still, it'll be good to pick up relatively light things from underwater if that's your goal. If you're looking for something heavy duty, as this claims to be, this ain't it.Rope feels strong enough but you should re-tie the knot into something more solid for this kind of practice, lest you lose this forever in the deep. I guess this is a good practice kit, though! Light enough for a kid to use.

I'm brand new to magnet fishing. I chose the larger D90 Set.This is a big, very strong, magnet! I believe it to be the largest magnet I've ever owned.I really don't know what the limits are to picking up something underwater with one of these. But one could easily pick up something as big as a shovel or rake, probably even a wheelbarrow! It might even be possible to pull up something as large as an outboard motor! The 65 foot rope appears to be up to the task too. This could easily pick up many things lessor magnets would miss. Including things lost deep in mud.I'm looking forward to utilizing it this spring and summer when I go camping. I think it provides good value for the price.I can only imagine how far this might be thrown by spinning this huge heavy magnet around in a circle and then letting go. I would think this to be probably the optimal size to utilize for this activity. I just don't want to lose it! So I'll probably take it slow at first. It should definitely prove to be fun!

This is a STRONG magnet. 1000 lb. capacity strong. Some preliminary testing with small, ferrous items and they don't "want" to be separated easily from the magnet - just as you'd expect.I've wanted to try some magnet fishing for some time and now will FINALLY get my chance! Will I find treasure? Probably not. But if you love magnets and want to incorporate them into an outdoor hobby, this seems like a great choice!Oh, and it comes with the eye-bolt pre-assembled with the magnet, but not the rope. So be sure to know how to tie a strong knot!

The magnet seems strong, but I cannot verify how strong it really is. Holds pretty well to some thing in my apartment and after researching a bit, I found that a Palomar Knot is the preferred Knot for the magnet hook end. Rope is decent, seems it will last a long time. The locking Carabiner seems like it just needs a little lubrication, or just a little bit of a bigger Carabiner would be better.

This claims to be 1000 pound magnet. I have no way to test that much but this sucker is extremely strong. It holds my 200 pounds easily. The weak link in this set up is probably the carabiner. It doesn't seem that great and I will end up replacing it. The eye on the magnet has a locking washer but it was loose, so it would be a good idea to put some thread locker on it and tighten it up before you use it. I'm happy with it, and for 20 dollars you're getting one heck of a magnet.

This magnet is strong, no question about that. However, I don’t know about 1000lbs strong. Maybe it could lift that under the most ideal scenarios. It did lift a heavy metal tool box full of normal tools. But it didn’t lift a much heavier metal tool box full of brass fittings. Maybe if the tool box was thicker steel it would have been able to do it.That said, once ice is off the lakes I’m really excited to give it a try to see what I can find. It definitely has more grab than my 165lbs magnet.

Well made magnet with a good solid chrome finish. Tested it by putting it on the refrigerator and trying to pull it straight off, which I was unable to do without tilting the pressure sideways. Nice and strong holding power. The included rope seems to be well made and should hold up under a lot of tension.
