For 20 years I have spooled reels using a pencil and a friend , often with marginal results.This is so simple and easy to set up and after spooling 3 reels first day I love itNo it isn't the strongest on the market but for medium size reels, 10 pound floro it worked like a champ , and no TANGLES! Use line conditioner and you cant go wrong , great price and does what $30 ones do. Tension easy to adjust, stays on desk with clamp and light if you want to carry in bag.

First off. You have to understand they sell a suction cup style and a Clamp style. So you are seeing reviews for two different styles here. I bought the Clamp style. You will need a little common sense to operate this spooler because it doesn't come with instructions. It's pretty easy but still make sure you have a little common sense. I used a 2 1/2" (inch) wide spool and that is about the max your going to be able to use. I will respool about 5 reels a year so it will work for me. If your planning to do more than that I would consider something a little better. The tension was good, I did two reels in about 20 minutes and that's including pulling the old line off. If my buddy borrowed it and never returned it. I'd probably pick another one up for the price.

The clamp could be a little bit more heavy duty, but it does the job. Very easy to use, and looks like it will last forever because other than the clamp the rest of it is very sturdy and well-made.

Gnarred up the aluminum bar pretty good when cracking down the screws, Suction base near useless. I use a vice and the works just fine. You can put enough pressure in the springs to lay line tight. Hope that makes sense. If you have solid way to hold the base - yeah I recommend this product. But the durability is up in the air so we'll see.

The suction cup holds better than expected. I stuck it on top of your basic metal filing cabinet. and it held without incident while I spooled a couple of reels. This is not a tool to put 15 lbs. of tension on line you're installing onto a big-game trolling reel, but it does put out a couple of lbs., entirely suitable for small to medium-sized reels. I managed to persuade it to accept a 1/4 lb. filler spool. It definitely fills a niche for me.

I just wanted the hardware and bent shaft, probably coulda made the shaft myself but hey this was 9$ and it comes anyways...I was fully aware the suction cup is most likely useless unless except on clean glass...Cheap price and I just spooled up a reel with it and it worked perfectly with my setup, it’s basically screwed in a hole in my work bench, pretty simple...then I have a rig that holds a reel spool on my screw gun...I can do spinning and baitcasting reels.No more line twist, no more loosely spooled reels, and no more burnt fingers... my DIY nuts/bolts/washer setup wouldn’t work properly, the springs and and cones on these things are very important parts of getting it to work correctly...Very satisfied.

Great addition to my fishing gear. This is a easy to use device that removes all the aggravation when I re-line my reels alone I've had the spoolers that fit on the pole and of course the pen or pencil through the spool held with my feet and none of those methods worked very well. This spooler is so easy to use and makes the job so fast I can re-line all my reels in a hour or less the suction cup attaches well to a smooth flat surface and set up is as easy as sliding the spool of line onto the rod the tension spring and wing nut make it possible to adjust the tightness of the line on the reel which is important to me and the other guys I've talked to. This spooler is compact and fits into my backpack I use to carry my essential gear when I'm going to be away from home a day or longer the materials and workmanship of this are both very good I've used it a half dozen times or more and it works just as well now as it did the day I received it I don't see any reason this won't last for years even using it to re-line the whole families reels which is a dozen reels a year or more. The quality and convenience of this spooler make it a great value and money well spent.
