These Forstner bits are a dream to use, especially in hardwoods (hard maple, cherry, walnut). The wave edge cutters enter cleanly and produce an abundance of shavings (not sawdust) and flat bottom bore holes. I did have to deburr a few of the bits (all minor with just a couple of passes with a very fine diamond strop). The first use probably would have removed any burrs - I would have given them a 4 3/4 rating as at this price point because of the burr but that was not an option. Quality is always less expensive in the long run in my experience and these have definitely earned a place in my shop.

I have been getting by with big box store brands of wood bits, forstner bits in particular. I didn't know they were lousy, I just had no way of knowing what a proper bit should work like. Like you may have noticed as you're using yours, the cheap bits would get hot, occasionally smoke, and generally not really cut well. So I went on an explore which led me to videos of comparisons of brands. These always ranked best and after using them, I understand why. I have never seen such clean edges or flat bottoms on any bit I've every used before. I was really dumbfounded. They cut effortlessly. The full set is really expensive and I don't have need for all the mid-sized bits that come in the big set. This 7-piece set is all I really need and were very reasonably priced in my opinion. I'm certain these will blow you away with how fast and clean they cut. If you're like me, you'll toss your old ones out as soon as you drill your first hole. 5-star purchase.

I have a much-used set of Chinese Forstner bits, in the same exact quantity and sizes as this Fisch set, and I was happy with them. They even had a pretty decent blow-molded case with the bit sizes and positioned clearly molded into the case. But I watched the "Stumpy Nubs" YouTube video where he describes this exact Fisch set as his favorite, and this convinced me to pop for this nice 'professional' set, made in Austria.I can't complain about the bits. They do seem to be high quality and likely to cut cleanly and last a long time. But I am a bit disappointed in the so-called "custom" wooden case (first, if it is mass produced, then it ain't custom), so that part of the product description is something of a lie. But more to the point, the wooden case is kind of 'crap'. It is just thrown together out of some 1/4" plywood, with no apparent sanding of the cut edges, so it will give you slivers opening and closing it. The wood is not varnished or treated in any way that I can see. The hinges and single latch are cheap. The blocking inside the case is just black painted styrofoam, rather than the denser foam blocking I have seen on other 'serious' tooling bit sets. There is no identification of which size bit fits where, and the graduated sizes are not just lined up logically, rather they are kinda staggered and scattered, possibly to minimize the case size; there is nothing to tell you which bit is supposed to ideally fit where. I had to print out 16 labels and stick them adjacent to each recess in the foam.

The package had been opened and the 3/8ths bit used. First I hate that people send back something they used. Second, it is inappropriate to send out a used product to apurchaser expecting new.The bits are still sharp and function properly. I recommend them. Just peeved over the opened packaging and used bit

I had been looking to get a set of Forstner bits for sometime. After considering the cheaper brands and reading the reviews I finally took the plunge and went for the Fisch brand. Whilst they are not cheap it is a worthwhile investment, as used correctly Fisch bits will last many years and remain sharp for a long time. This set has a good range of sizes and the wooden storage box is a nice addition to protect your investment.

I replaced a low end set of forstner bits from Lowes with these bits. I was struggling with the low end bits using a cordless hand drill on a project. These bits are no comparison. Went through the material like butter. I suspect these bits will last a long time (and maybe cheaper in the long run?) if I'm careful not to abuse them and keep them sharp. Some things, you get what you pay for. This set of forstner bits is one of them.

I bought these on reputation and because they were made in Austria. The set is a great value versus individual purchases. Looking forward to using more of them but so far have been super pleased with the. 3/8 in the drill press and the 3/4 in my Makita hand held.

These forstner bits are very sharp and clean cutting. They are expensive but well worth the price. Highly recommend these to any wood worker.

Yes, these Forstner Bits are more expensive than many others. I originally got the less expensive bits when I was starting my woodworking. And. These seemed fine for early projects. Now, I get flawless holes which require much less finishing time.I’d recommend these bits when you require near perfect cuts in your expensive wood projects.AndThese bits seem to be holding up well to my use.
