This is a very nice grate. The extra elevation vastly improves convective air flow relative to the old shorter worn and sagging grate this replaced. This significantly reduces smells and fumes in the living area. I didn't realize how important this was but the difference is very noticeable. The grate has just the right spacing to let the hot embers fall through to sublimate off heat.It was meticulously wrapped in foam padding which is fine but seemed unnecessary. It did protect the finish from shipping but that's of little finish survived the first fire with the rack throwing a red to dull orange glow.

I have used it twice and is holding up nicely. Previous fireplace grates I have had start warp fairly quickly with oak burning fires. I also like the height which quite a bit higher than previous ones allowing more coals to build up underneath.

Perfect for a dated Earth Stove, after you remove the legs. Our last grate got old quickly. This one is holding up to big logs and constant fire.

This fireplace grate is better than I expected. It is pretty thick which made me happy because I burn hot fires and have had some grates droop after a few years.

I bought this grate for my indoor wood stove which is used to supplement household heat. The grate fits nicely in the stove with little room to spare. As such, I burn actual wood logs. Right off, I notice that the logs aren't burning as well unless I overload the little grate which is not safe. The difference between my previous grate is that the legs were shorter therefore there's a lot more heat reflected from the bottom to keep the logs burning nicely. It's a good little grate but the legs need to be 1"-2" shorter.
