Worked for a few months. Timer is now just stuck. Long story short, waste of money.

These are very simple and easy to set up and install. I use these for all my commercial gas grill installs.

Worked great out of the box. Installed outside on barbq. Now it fails to turn off (jams mid way) after a year- which rather defeats its purpose. Contacted factory. They are not interested in replacing.

The timer worked perfectly for two years. Then it stopped ticking. I was ready to give it a 1-star review, until I popped off the black knob and noticed three #1 Phillips screws. The screws are over-torqued at the factory, so you'll need a well-fitting #1 Phillips screwdriver bit attached to a substantial handle so you can apply the force necessary to loosen them. Make sure the timer is in the Off position. Remove and don't lose the three screws. The clock mechanism will fall right out. Catch it. Now you will need exactly two small drops of fine clock oil. Put a drop on each end of the axle that's holding the part that swings back and forth when the clock is running. That should fix it. Put it back together and you should be good for a year. Consider this to be periodic maintenance. Be careful to not spill oil on the mechanism. Excess oil might attract dirt that might stop the clock before your next scheduled maintenance session.

I bought it for my cottage renters so the do not empty my remote propane tank. I like using it myself. At home if I happen to leave the BBQ on it is not as big an issue since it is tied into the house natural gas system. I might just install it there sometime also.

What a great idea! No more accidentally forgetting to turn off the BBQ. It works great and it is just another safety feature. I've used it a few times and have had no issue. We will see how it does in the winter.

Is there anyone who hasn't forgotten to shut off a gas grill? I've done it more than once. On most occasions, I just run the tank empty. But once, the grill got so hot that it ignited old crusted-on junk and nearly caused a fire. The grill was a lost cause. And we know some people who lost their deck when their natural gas grill was left on and something nearby caught on fire. A neighbor noticed and called the fire department or they would've lost their entire house. This device works as it's supposed to, shutting the gas off when the time is up. I've so far installed three of these, and they're all still working. However, I've seen reviews saying that they can fail, and the instructions warn about using them in certain conditions. Maybe they're not as sturdy as you'd hope for an important safety device, but I have no evidence myself of problems. It's a good habit to always turn the gas off at the source, and not depend on anything to save you. But on a few rare occasions when you forget, this valve could save your house.

Installed this on our Weber Sprit 2 burner grill in about 15 minutes. I did remover the gas valve from the grill wall so I could mount the valve in the best position. I would rate the install a 1 or 2 on a scale of difficulty, 5 being the hardest. You will need a small tube of pipe dope, which you can buy at Lowes or HomeDepot. This appears to be a well made valve that should prove years of service. The timer is accurate. If you are looking for a way to make sure the gas is off I highly recommend this product. I have owned this shutoff valve for approximately 6 months.

Absolutely great product for those wanting control over your flow. I own a VRBO and wanted something to allow my renters an easy way to not forget to turn off the gas. This device was fairly easy to install just ran to my local Ace Hardware and grab a few attachments, three to be exact and it turned out great. I need to swap out my Teflon tape for propane tape this was just a test fit. Overall I’m very impressed.

I purchased the Fire Magic to insure that my new natural gas grill was not left on accidently. I've had it a few months and it has been working great.I was concerned about durability so I installed it with maximizing it's lifespan in mind:I installed the unit upright in a sheltered location. The dial is just plastic so you may want to plan for some kind of enclosure if it will be exposed to the sun and elements.I also installed a manual shut off value inline before the timer. This allows me to turn off the gas without needing to turn the timer "backward" hopefully reducing ware on the timer. It also will make it easier to replace should that be necessary.Having automatic shutoff for a grill or set of logs is such a obvious safety addition that even with some longevity concerns I can't help but recommend the Fire Magic timer.
