These mandatory fire ladders come in handy for our second story rental units. When our tenants, who inadvertently pack them up with their own belongings when they move out, we're able to replace them affordably.

Seems sturdy, and gives me peace if mind in case of an emergency. I like the carabiner clips to hook around heavy furniture as an anchor

The ladder comes without hooks for the window frame, only D-rings that you can attach to things like hooks or eyelet bolts. The only hooks Amazon sells for these ladders have attachment loops with gaps large enough for the D-rings to just fall off unless you secure them with some heavy duty tape. The hooks are not cheap - the only way this saves you money is if you install eyelet bolts below the window opening that are strong enough to support the weight of an adult and attach the D-rings there in advance - itās not the kind of thing most people will have the wherewithal to do while trying to flee from a burning building. Such a solution will in most cases require installing heavy-duty wall anchors for the bolts and also effectively reduces the length of the ladder by perhaps a foot or more, depending on where and how you installed the eyelet bolts. The ladders, with hooks (and tape to keep the hooks from falling off) would likely work if I had to flee out of a window. But donāt let the low price fool you - the ladder alone isnāt enough and there are more elegant and effective ladders out there. The last thing you should ācheap outā on is your safety, in case a fire forces you to escape through a window thatās too high off the ground to safely jump through it.
