I wish I bought one of these years ago. I installed it on a cheap $200 diy Kramer copy guitar from eBay with a cheap Floyd rose and it stays perfectly in tune when switching. Some people complain the d-tuna makes guitar out of tune but imo that’s because people don’t have a properly set up guitar to start with, don’t adjust the d-tuna when it’s upright they do it with it laying on a table which you never do with a Floyd. If you do it properly it 100% will work don’t blame the product because ur doing it wrong! LONG LIVE EDDIE VAN HALEN

This was remarkably easy to install. Only took me ~20 minutes. I installed this on my Ibanez RG, there's a lot of comments floating out there saying it won't work. But as long as you make it dive only (with a trem-block or tremol-no), it works flawlessly.

The EVH D-Tuna Drop D Tuning System is a highly efficient and straightforward tool for any guitarist who wants seamless drop-D tuning without having to manually tune the low E string down to D. Developed by Eddie Van Halen, this clever device is compatible with most Floyd Rose-style tremolos, making it a perfect solution for players who love the versatility of both standard and drop-D tuning.Installation and SetupSetting up the D-Tuna is straightforward, though it does require a bit of fine-tuning. It involves removing the existing fine-tuner on the low E string and replacing it with the D-Tuna. The installation can be done by most guitarists with basic tools, but if you're unfamiliar with Floyd Rose systems, a guitar tech might help ensure a smooth setup.PerformanceOnce installed and properly set up, the D-Tuna performs impressively well. Switching between standard tuning and drop D is as simple as pulling the device in or out. This quick toggle is especially handy in live settings where a quick tuning change is essential. The tuning stability is commendable; it holds well with little-to-no deviation, thanks to the design that prevents wobbling or accidental shifts during intense playing.Compatibility and LimitationsWhile the D-Tuna is designed to work with most Floyd Rose bridges, it’s best suited for setups without a floating bridge, as a floating bridge needs to be “decked” or stabilized to allow the D-Tuna to function optimally. Some players may find this limiting, especially those who prefer full-floating tremolo action.Pros:Quick Drop D switching: Effortless switching between standard and drop-D tuning with a simple pull or push.Solid tuning stability: Stays in tune even during heavy playing.Durable design: Built from quality materials to withstand intense use.Cons:Limited to Floyd Rose-style systems: Not suitable for all bridge types.Requires “decked” bridge setup: Users with floating bridges may need to adjust their setup for full functionality.Overall VerdictThe EVH D-Tuna Drop D Tuning System is a fantastic, innovative tool for players looking to make quick tuning changes. It’s a bit of a niche product but invaluable for Floyd Rose users who want the versatility of both standard and drop D tuning. The solid construction and ease of use make it worth the investment for live players and metal/rock guitarists who switch tunings frequently.

Seems like an excellent product. Good materials. However, it will not work on a Floyd Rose 1,000 or 2,000 flush mount or recessed tremolo system.

I bought an EVH Wolfgang Standard which has an EVH/Floyd Rose Tremolo system. I easily installed the D-Tuna and it works in both E and D positions. However there is no clearance between the D-Tuna and body in the E position. It barely touches the finish when the micro tuner is all the way up. This does not allow me to use the micro tuner. If I did the D-Tuna would push down on the body finish. I will need to find a solution to this by blocking the tremolo. There is a product called "Tremol-No". Hopefully I can use it to lift the tremolo off the body and still have it blocked and not floating. Otherwise I would need to take it to a luthier.

I’ve bought a Wolfgang standard, and this particular guitar does not have a D tuna, so I read that you could install one yourself in five minutes so I gave it a try, it does really take five minutes to install, boutiques at least an hour to tune your guitar because as we all know Floyd rose trems are not easy to set up, after set up it’s incredible how this new gadget changes the whole game, I would definitely recommend yes if you have songs in standardTuning and need to switch to drop D fast

I’m very impressed with this system! It is very well engineered and you can tell a lot of thought went into every detail. As an example, the fine tuning grub screw on the device is angled so that is easily turned using the Allen key without worrying about hitting the trem or the body of the guitar. It is super easy to install and once you get it dialed in it’s amazingly easy to drop tunings to a D or C# and back again. I will say it took a lot of tweaking to get my drop D to be tuned perfectly. I had to make sure I tuned the D a few cents flat, because it would go a few cents sharp once I tightened down the locking nut. You can’t really fine tune the dropped tuning with the fine tuning screw or it scratches the heck out of the device and it is not easy or smooth to switch between tunings. Fine tuning the E is super easy using the Allen key. And since this is on a double locking trem, once you get it dialed in, it’s set. I’ve not had to tune it since installing a little over a week ago. One thing to remember is that if your tremolo is floating, you will need to install a trem stopper or black box or something to stop the trem from bending up. If you don’t, the d-tuna will not work.
