I really wanted to like this thermometer, but it’s just not reliable. The readings are inconsistent, and sometimes it takes multiple tries to get a result. The 1-second claim? Not true for me—sometimes it takes even longer. The 3-color fever alarm is a nice idea, but it’s not accurate either, often showing a “fever” when the temperature is normal. I also found the disposable probe covers to be difficult to fit properly. Overall, I’m not happy with this purchase and wouldn’t recommend it.

Compact and very easy to use makes this great for small children. Reads the temperature in just a few seconds without need to place in the mouth and wait a minute. We tried this against several other types and it was as accurate as any other temperature measuring device we used.Display will change color depending on the read temp. taken, green for OK, yellow as a caution and red for concern. The backlit display will tell you exactly the temp but the colors will help you understand the severity. Has a memory function so you can review the last temp taken and a audible beep to let you know when its completed the reading of the temperature.Comes with disposable cups for easy care of unit and cleanliness, batteries and great instructions to get you using this as soon as it arrives. I have a thermometer that is for forehead and wanted to compare ease of use and accuracy. I went from digital mouth thermometer to the forehead but had never personally tried an ear thermometer. I'm glad I did. My name brand forehead thermometer works quickly but isn't always accurate. Can be almost 2° off at times and requires multiple tries to get semi accurate reading. While this thermometer is harder to use because it has to be positioned just right it gives an accurate reading. It comes with tips and will not work without them. I used the same tip multiple times, wiping with alcohol between uses, when I got sick recently. You're supposed to use a new one each time but that seems wasteful to me. I understand the need for tips but washable reusable tips should be an option.
