The ends of the springs were so much smaller than the nibs on the handles that I am afraid I may have ruined the new springs using the force needed to get them to stay on the nibs.

After 30+ years of use, I wore out the old spring and lost in during an intense prune event. Easy peasy repair with the new spring that arrived. Not difficult to install new one, and my pruners are good for another 30 years. Ha!
