Although I have been a sewer for many decades, this is my first experience with an overlock machine. Wanting one for years, I never made the leap because of the price. When this one came across my radar, I decided to order it and am so glad I did. The instruction manual is exceptionally clear and covers everything you need to know including maintenance and even sewing examples. It is different enough from my two other regular sewing machines that I would have been quite confused and maybe not proceeded without the very clear information. It also comes with a CD but I have not yet viewed that. The machine seems really solidly built. The metal inner workings are contained within an outer plastic case. This is actually good because it is very heavy but still within my limits to move on my sewing table. It is also compact so it doesn’t take up a lot of extra room but has already easily handled finishing edges on a fleece lined blanket. It operates smoothly and any glitches at this point are due to my novice skills. It comes with a good size piece of muslin fabric for practice applications. If I heed the maintenance instructions, which are simple, I anticipate this machine will last a long time. I think this overlock machine is a very good value for its solid construction and excellent instructions.

I started sewing not very long ago. I bought this serger as it is the next step in polishing up whatever I make. I have been a bit daunted by the steps to set this up although they are detailed enough, so I requested a friend who is an experienced seamstress to help. She came and set it up for me and showed me how to use it. Suffice to say, she is very impressed with this serger. She has several of her own, but she says this is as good as, if not better than her sergers from well-known companies. More stable and solid, excellent results and very versatile, is how she describes it. I am delighted with my purchase.

Very well made! Comparable to top brands. Better than Singer, Brother, and Janome in my experience. Easy to set up out of the box. It's ready to go for some standard serging like a pillow cover. Yes, sergers are complicated but this one is quite user friendly and great for beginners! The perfect gift!

You're really taking a gamble with these "generic" machines, but I was very pleasantly surprised with this one. It works just like you'd expect a much more expensive machine to work. Please note, this is a serger, so there's a learning curve if you've never worked with one before, but once you know what you're doing, threading is a breeze and working with it is great. It does rock and move all over the place when using it, which I've tested a cheaper brand before, and it danced all over the table when running (I had to return it). This one, however, stayed put and I was able to serge through a whole blanket with zero issues.

I have never had a serger but have always wanted one. I am not an experienced serger user so I have nothing to compare this one to. That being said, I do have a fare amount of sewing experience and that helped me in working with this machine. The manual is detailed but with no experience I was feeling a bit daunted by threading it and getting it going. There is reference to using only 2 or 3 instead of 4 threads. I think this is a great feature and I will try it out eventually, but the manual is a bit light on explaining that usage. More research needed. There is a seam guide included. I went to Youtube to see how to attach it and found nothing for this particular model. I saw another brand and model so I know the purpose, but I can't figure out how to put it on this machine. I tried to contact customer service through the website and so far haven't received any satisfactory response. I also can't see where I can get any other accessories as mentioned in the manual.I did a few test runs after threading the machine. During the threading process, I was able to pull some through on the leader threads that were in the machine when it arrived. I had to do two by hand as my knots didn't hold, but the directions for threading are pretty clear and the machine is well marked and fairly easy to thread.Sewing is very fast. I'm not used to that much speed and wish I had a little more control of that. The tensions were a bit off, but I am getting used to having to balance 4 threads. Seeing the correct one in the sample piece that came with the machine and looking at incorrect tension pictures in the manual helped my get the right thread to the right setting. The cutter is a bit of a trick. It works great. The plastic bin that attaches is really hard to get off once attached. (Attaching is tricky.) And, it has to come off to get at any of the tools or to thread the machine. I am tempted to not use it lest I break something critical trying to remove it.My biggest concern is that there is no more help beyond the manual. The manual is good, but getting parts and instructions on how to use them would be helpful.
