Everything starts from teak fields grown by the Northeast locals. They are valuable resource growing together with people in the region; they have been grown, taken care of, cut, and then replanted for years and years. Unlike teaks from other areas in the world, Thai teaks possess unique golden brown texture which can be seen even with naked eyes. We choose teaks due to their moist resistance. Their durability and lightweight are more than suitable to be utensil material.
HANDMADE : The greatest gift from local artisans
Handcraft has been passed down for many generations in Northeast of Thailand. In the old days, people used coconut to carve utensils used among families. The skill has been sharpened until today where those household utensils are turned into high quality ergonomically designed products made of teaks: finer carving, neater sanding, and better materials. The local artisans keep brainstorming, thinking, designing, and improving their every piece of wooden gifts to every customer. This way, they can share the true value of handmade products with the whole world.
HEARTCRAFTED : The greatest gifts from humans
Feeling grateful for every support that keeps their families together, they use their heart to carve utensils instead of only saying thank you. Back when they had no supporter, they to run around selling their products, leaving the kids and elders home. Now that they have a little space to sell, they can build warmer and bigger families. Some even managed to take their kids to work and teach them how it is like to work by heart. People in the photo above are Joi and Noon, her daughter. They now work in the same place so they have more time together as family. Their warmth and strong bond also bring happiness to the entire workplace.

Ou
Ou was born an ordinary little boy. Unfortunately, he fell into the water when he was 2, and since then, he has become physically challenged. He used to stay home all the time, but now, with a little help from his neighbors, he can work like other people. He enjoys it very much, saying that wood carving has fulfilled his life.
“I used to feel hopeless and had to stay home alone. Now it’s completely different. I’m employed. I have some money. I am loved by my colleagues. I like to spend time at work. I want to work everyday.”
Ou is responsible for drafting the products before they are finely carved. His drawing skill is incredible.
Pon
Our beloved Pon is the head of the group who used to work overseas for years. There, he experienced interesting skills that he thought could be applicable to the artisans in his hometown. After he came back, he started to gather the craftsmen and shaped their carving skill. He had a wide range of knowledge about trees and types of wood, and decided to use teak instead of coconut shell. The products hence became much more durable, light, and moist resistant, suitable for a variety of cooking tasks.
He always tried his best developing both the goods and artisans, and that resulted in a finer quality of products and more proficient craftsmen. Now, he doesn't only provide job opportunities and train his group members, but also helps support their children in need of tuition fee, stationery, and school uniform; everyone feels deeply grateful and carefree enough to design, carve, and better the products with all their heart and both of their hands.

We love this ladle. It's shorter than normal utensils so it fits nicely in the drawer. Its the perfect size for serving soup. It's beautifully & sturdily made. The wood is very pretty. We're very pleased with our purchase!

Lovely wooden ladle, just what I wanted to replace my plastic one and money goes to a good place seemingly. Slightly less depth but still enough to spoon out soup or stew well.

So excited when it was delivered, washed and dried it and placed in my utensil crock. Husband went to use it for chili and noticed it had a crack. My package came a bit compressed, but what didn’t around the holidays. My new ladle will be on its way. Can’t complain about that!

The company FAAY makes such beautiful hand made teak utensils. I added this ladle to my growing collection of FAAY utensils, including some left-handed ones they offer. My collection looks so professional in their container on my kitchen counter.. Friends who have seen them in my kitchen always ask me about them & I always recommend them. This purchase supports a small business that produces beautifully made teak utensils with no chemicals.... and they are NOT made in China.

Yeah, we all have pretty much already heard about the black plastic kitchen utensils being kicked to the wayside due to all the chemicals in them. This has been showing up more and more in the news recently. For a while now, I have been replacing those cheap and horrid black plastic utensils with products from FAAY.I would have to go back through my purchase history to give an exact number, but I have already ordered numerous items from this company. These teak utensils are very durable when used appropriately in normal cooking. I have yet to have one chip or break.One thing to get used to is NOT putting these utensils in the dishwasher. They really should be hand-washed with hot water and some dish detergent. Let them dry, and try to put some food-grade mineral oil on them to prevent drying out. We use Bayes Food Grade Mineral Oil available here on Amazon. A little bit of it goes a long ways. Highly recommended.Now, this particular ladle may not be huge, but it will dip out a good amount as necessary. I have already used it several times and am glad I finally got rid of that black plastic ladle I had been using for too many years.

Because I've recently learned about the toxins in recycled black plastic utensils, I have eliminated all my nylon, silicone and plastic utensils and replaced them with stainless steel and wood.I selected these FAAY utensils because they are made of solid pieces of beautiful teak and have ergonomic handles and they do not have varnish or dyes or synthetic treatment on them. They are 100 percent natural.These are perfectly crafted with no seams or splicing or rough edges. Because they are teak, they will resist moisture and will be part of my kitchenwares for the rest of my life.A wonderful investment.
