Used this to exceed the speed of the M.2 port. PCIE port was faster.

Works well with an older ddr3 AMD Asus motherboard, does not work at all with a similar MSI motherboard. The MSI does not see it at all. Its main use case is older motherboards that do not have an M.2 slot. It will adjust to a Motherboard that does not have PCIe 4, so will just work with PCIe 3 as well. In that case you lose some speed, but still insanely fast. Usually you get 10-20x improvement over a sata ssd.

Used in a server rack sorry for bad picture originally i bought to see if this would help my mob detect the nvme as a boot disc bot my servers mob dosen't support it so whatever lol have been using it as a storage expansion and honestly im going to replace this cheapy chines other one i have with another one of theses SOLID ALL AROUNDonly down fall for common users is leds red stays on always and led blue flashes whenever actions happens on nvme (Simple solution as i make chips and boards is to install a mega{Used on UNO boards} chip or anything that will allow the pc of the user to control or see "Interface" of the adapter to either disable leds or to see the write speed etc)For a server aspect OH MY GOD best idea ever lol lets me know if any nvme die's or has issues as the blue led flashes for any action on the nvmeThis is for the manufactureUpdate the manual with more in depth description as confusion was caused by the pads how to use and where do i use both or just one the paper never saidA software of some type would greatly improve the sell rate and overall of this productNot that it's selling bad but i had to download an extra application to see if it workedi know a lot of people would say bloat ware but when it's a storage device adapter you cant really tell if its functioning properly a simple application would help the led is a good indication but that could mean many things or not mean anything

If you're in the market for a thing like this, you probably already know what to do with it. With that said, it does exactly what you expect. The only thing i don't like about it is that there's an always-on red LED. In my case it is obscured, so it doesn't clash with the Color Theme i have going, but i'd imagine on a build without a vertical GPU mount, the red glow might be intrusive, unless you're running a Red color theme.

The real surprise is that it worked with my 13 year old 6-core AMD "server", using a pcie Gen2x4 slot.I'm getting the expected speeds from a crucial P3 nvme running on that slot.Choose this one over others due to the thinner heatsink profile for quicker heat dissipation over the thicker heatsinks(with shallow fins) that are with other adapters.Had to look at the picture online to see that the larger thermal pad goes on bottom and make sure the bands are directly over the memory chips otherwise it will gap when screwed down. Thanks for a great product, will buy again!

I upgraded my computer M2 boot drive to a larger drive. My options were to clone the boot drive (C) to another drive in or attached to my computer, then install the new larger M2 drive into the only M2 slot and clone the clone onto the new drive. OR... just buy this adapter, put it on my new M2 drive and stick it in an open PCIe slot, clone to the new drive, then replace the old M2 with the new cloned M2. I did the latter and it worked like a charm. The adapter fits onto the M2 drive which can then be inserted into a free PCIe slot on your computer. You can use it as I did for cloning the boot drive in a computer with only 1 M2 slot. Or, use it to add a fast M2 drive to your computer even if you don't have an M2 slot.Bottom line, it works well. Easy to install. Doesn't cost much. It was worth the $14 to make cloning my C drive easier. Now it is sitting on the shelf since I no longer need it. Maybe in the future, I'll have a need for it.
