This is a tool I’d not seen before now. This set of “extension clamps” are an interesting hybrid between locking pliers and a wrench that fits into tight spaces. I tried out the middle-sized (8.5” long) tool when I was assembling a new patio heater this weekend. I needed to hold some bolts in the correct orientation between the base and the wheel axle and to keep them from spinning while I tightened the nuts. While I could theoretically do this specific task with a crescent wrench, the clamp did a good job of gripping the bolt solidly and keeping it in the hole – something which a standard crescent wrench doesn’t really do very well. Note that the design requires you to pull the jaws apart by hand, but then they can be closed/tightened by just rotating the thumb wheel. I wish I’d had these when I was assembling metal shelving several months ago; it was difficult to get a wrench or my fingers into the folded edges of the shelves, and these narrow clamps would have made the task much simpler.

These extension wrenches are really cool. I have had multiple situations while working on vehicles where these would have come in handy. They are really good for holding nuts to keep them in place while you attach a bolt. I don't think they will hold up to unscrewing a bolt that is stuck but if you have one that is hard to reach and not super tight, they should do just fine.I think the $32.99 price is a little much for these and normally I would probably just have purchased a single one, the longest 14" version can pretty much do everything I would need. They are definitely a good tool to have when you need it but they aren't really too much different than a long pair of forceps that could be useful in a lot of other applications. The foam they come in is good quality and I am using it to store them in my toolbox. This was a nice feature I didn't really expect.

Seriously, these are amazing at holding a nut in place while you put on a bolt somewhere deep inside an engine or an HVAC system or ductwork or ANYTHING. I had to watch the video to learn how to use them but then BAM, I use them for everything!

Definitely a useful product to hold a fastener in place in a restricted access area. Makes life MUCH easier on your fingers and hands.

The quality of these clamps is sadly lacking. Two of the three clamps are not even square at the clamp. The metal "L" shape on two of these is upward. This causes the clamp to not completely seat a nut and bolt. Which has led to the clamp slipping off.Another issue I have with these clamps is how sloppy the tolerances are. There is just way to much play in the clamp for a tool at this price.

I wish I had these years ago, when I struggled with assembling some stuff that would have been made so much easier. I tried these with nuts and bolts, and they hold both well, well enough to help assemble something. These could also be used to hold a nail to start it in a place where a hand won't fit. I think I will find uses for these that will make me say, "how did I get along without this tool?"This is a unique tool that, I think, has a lot of versatility.

This is a copy of the Handee clamp. (Which itself feels like a modification of the Blalock pulmonary artery surgical clamp, but there are probably other instances.) I don't have any experience with the original, so I don't know how many of these observations apply just as much to it; I'm just going to tell you what I think about these. If you can get what you want to hold flat against the extending bar, it holds very well. If you have to pinch something with the tips, they aren't aligned well enough for it to really touch at more than two places, so it will have a tendency to spin in the jaws, kind of like if you try to hold a screwhead with a pair of pliers.Unscrewing the nut does not extend the clamping arm. You have to push it out manually. This seems so easy to have fixed, but they didn't.The alignment of the two arms isn't great. It's okay, but as it gets more closed, it starts to bind. Not bad enough that it's hard to close, but since the nut doesn't force the jaws open, you have to push against that binding to get it to open. It's annoying, when a little more care could have prevented it.I feel like the jaws might actually be too deep for the type of work this is intended for. That's resolvable with an angle grinder. Maybe it's better to let the consumer choose, but I feel like they should have just come a little shorter. All that said, they feel generally well made, with strong steel, and they aren't sloppy and loose.

We've all had that experience - trying to hold a nut in an awkward position while starting a bolt through it. These clamps seemed like a great solution. There are a few problems, though. First, while these clamps come in three lengths, they're all exactly the same width. I had thought the small one might be useful for smaller bolts like M2 or M3, but it's the same width as the others, and too wide to fit into a lot of spaces with small hardware.Second, the nearer jaw of each clamp is bent up from the clamp housing, and quite thin. It's certainly strong enough to hold a nut in place while you START a bolt, but it's not going to be strong enough to keep the nut from turning as you apply more torque to the bolt. That's going to seriously limit the utility of these clamps. I wouldn't be surprised if that near jaw fatigues and breaks fairly quickly. Also, the adjustment thumb wheel limits movement only in one direction. You can use it to tighten the clamp, but to loosen the clamp, you need to spin the thumb wheel and then push in the threaded rod - it's not fixed against the housing. This doesn't prevent the clamp from working, but it is kind of annoying.I expect to get some use out of these, but I'm not really sure that I can recommend them, especially at the current price. If you spend a lot of time swearing at nuts as you try to hold them in place, these might be just what you're looking for.
