My application for this tool was to just slightly open the flange. This allowed the pipe to fit better, and hopefully not fall off again on a rainy day, and that's with professional installation. So far, I have not put a lot of force on this yet, because I only needed to open the pipe a small.I am surprised that the instructions say that an impact wrench is acceptable. I have bearing pullers that say not to use an impact wrench.Depending on how cold the pipe is, how strong the impact is, and how much metal you are trying to move, this tool may, or may not work as well as you like. They do recommend heating the pipe, and I would start off with a big ratchet to get a feel for how tight the screw gets before you add an impact to it.

This is a pretty well built set of expanders. The outer parts are aluminum, but the center piece is good heavy metal with large, deep threads.Used properly, this should hold up just fine.It says it can be used cold, but personally I wouldn't try it on cold pipes. It's much easier when you heat the pipes. I have a propane torch I use for this type of work. Propane is cheap and will get the pipe plenty hot enough for expanding without burning holes through it.It has rubber bands that hold the expanders together. I don't know how well those will stand up to the heat but it comes with a lot of extra ones and any rubber band could be used.Overall, great item
