Very sturdy! It uses the Linux input event drivers. Search for `pypedal` on github/KJ7LNW for command scripting.(not the pedigree pypedal project, that is different.)

This foot pedal is super easy to use—literally just plug it in, and you’re good to go. No complicated setup at all. I use it with various transcription software, and it works perfectly across all of them. The pedals are responsive and smooth, which makes my workflow so much faster and more efficient. If you do a lot of transcription work, this is a must-have tool.

The pedal arrived quickly but it took me a few hours to get it to work with my setup.I emailed the seller and they emailed me back within a couple of hours (thanks!) with real (non-bot) replies. In case any others in my situation have this:Windows recognised it but the pedals didn't activate the FTR Gold player I downloaded, on Parallels.(Using this for transcription work.)What I had to do after going into properties of the FTR player and saving preferences was go into a 'system info' area (in FTR player) and save the settings. It crashed, but after that, worked, ie the player finally responded to the footpedal.

I bought this foot pedal in 2017 and have had absolutely zero problems with it for almost five years. I am a legal transcriptionist and I use it literally every single day for HOURS and it has had no issues. I am buying another one after this long because it has just now stopped working as sometimes the audio I am trying to play will not play until I unplug and plug in the USB again. At first I thought it was the USB itself, but everything else I have plugged into the same USB port (mouse, keyboard, etc.) works perfectly fine. I think 5 years is an excellent amount of time for a product like this to last, especially being used constantly every single day for a full-time job.

When I bought the pedal I downloaded the free software from the NCH site. I was able to configure the pedals so they could work with my personal options. Unfortunately, I bought the Infinity pedal, which requires the purchase of the transcription Express Scribe software. The Alto Edge pedal does not require it. As I was pleased with the way it worked, and as I needed it to complete a transcription, I was forced to buy the software. The description of the product does not specify that you have to buy the software in order to setup the pedal controllers. On the other hand, it is an excellent tool since it provides all the features that will allow you to do transcriptions. As long as you are pushing the pedal, the audio is in PLAY, once you lift the foot from it, the audio stops. Once you press the pedal again, the software replays the last seconds of the audio allowing you to get the last words you typed and thus making sense of what you are typing. It appears that you can also reduce the background noises, do a draft transcription with a speech to text engine, etc. As I have not used these (they were not active in the free version) since I do not need them, I don't know how they work. All in all, it's a great tool, unfortunately, the pedal works only with the pro version of the software.

This is one of the "standard" models of foot controller. It's a sturdy, heavy pedal which sits on the floor, attaches to a computer by USB and plays nicely with a number of common transcription programs, such as Express Scribe (paid version only) and F4 (or F5 on the Mac). If you have a Mac and use Keyboard Maestro, it's also possible to assign the pedal buttons to replace keypresses in other applications - for example, starting and stopping a video player while typing in Word.It would normally go under an office desk, but you can use it in more relaxed ways. I sometimes type while stretched on a couch, pressing the pedal with my toe. The pedal's action is sensitive enough that this works fine.If you don't already have a transcription program, do get one. The advantage to using an application designed for transcription is that the audio only plays when you have your food depressed on the pedal, and each time you restart, the program backs up a second or two before playing the audio. Dedicated programs also have options like automatically inserting timecode.I previously owned the other Infinity model, the IN-USB-1, which is slightly cheaper. I was curious about the differences between the two. From the images, I wrongly assumed that this model, the IN-USB-2, had a single flat panel on top that clicked when tilted in different directions, while the IN-USB-1 had separate pedals. But in fact both models have three independent pedals on top - the curved sections on the right and left side of this model are not joined to the middle section, and press down separately. It's just a sleeker, updated design of the IN-USB-1. Both models feel professional and should last for years. If you like to take and transcribe notes from an IC recorder, or transcribe the dialogue on TV shows or movies, using this device and the right software will make the job at least 30% faster.

I have been transcribing audio and video files for over six years now without the use of this foot pedal. However, a co-worker recommended this pedal to me so I thought I'd give it a shot. WOW! What a difference. It makes transcription SO much easier and faster. I love the fact that you can set it (through the available software) to back up and/or fast forward at whatever speed you like because it is way more precise than having to drag and drop the status bar on a normal audio or video player and try and get it to the exact spot you need it.So far I am completely amazed with this product and wish I would have bought one years ago. It has been able to play every type of audio and video file I've tried, and is as simple as just dragging and dropping the file into the software. Also very easy to hookup and begin using. One word of caution for those not familiar with this pedal - this pedal does not come with any software. All you get when you order is the pedal itself. The software is separate. Not a big deal for me because I had already been told that by the person who recommended it to me. But just FYI for the rest of you considering this purchase.I've heard you can get a free software trial version called "Express Scribe Free", but for some reason my pedal said it wasn't compatible with the free version of this software. (I never personally tried it. I just took their word for it.) That wasn't a problem for me because I already knew I wanted the full version of this software (Express Scribe Pro), so I just bought that online and downloaded it right to my computer and immediately got to work. (I love that software program too if you're looking for a recommendation for software. It works very well with this pedal.)

I had already downloaded, and without a foot pedal was struggling with, the great free transcription software Express Scribe. This was the foot pedal they suggested so I thought I would go for it.There are no instructions with the pedal, and to be honest there didn't need to be. Within a minute of opening the package I had plugged the USB cable into my computer and windows (vista in my case) had recognised the pedal and installed the drivers. I started Express Scribe and clicked on options and then controller. The program already knew that the pedal had been installed so all I had to do was click to tell it to use it. It was that simple and I was up and running in under a minute. The pedal itself is nice and weighty so it doesn't move around under foot. The pedals are comfortable to use. Audio typing is hell without one and this one seems to be good quality, simple to use and for a reasonable price.
