Wow! May I give this pill cutter ten stars?! This product is beautifully made, very sturdy, and with a clever and compact design that captures the two sides of the pill as it cleanly and smoothly cuts each pill in two. My hands are quite gnarled and it’s especially difficult working with small items, but this pill cutter is very easy to handle. It’s no trouble at all to place the pill correctly and the cutter works very smoothly and quickly. There was zero crumbling of the ten tiny pills that I cut, and the flat bowls that caught each half were easy to empty back into the pill bottle. The plastic cover is attached so it won’t get lost, and it swings easily to open and close. Strong, quick, efficient, effective, and user friendly. It doesn’t get much better than that!

A rare product that does exactly what it claims - and exceeded expectations. This is the only pill-splitter I have EVER used that didn't leave a significant portion of the pill crushed, leaving you to wonder if you delivered a complete dose and how much exactly if you didn't. It works on large and small (even tiny) pills, particularly well on those already scored for splitting. The thick plastic shield prevents losing the divided portions, and the separate chambers hold the divided pill for easy dispensing. Solid milled aluminum, it's also very robust and feels like a precision device.The downsides (there always are): you need sufficient finger dexterity to align and load the pill between the cutters - for arthritic or elderly patients, it might require some practice (or an assist like tweezers). One positive feature of the loading process is that the design makes it easy to align the score mark (if there is one) precisely with the blade, ensuring a clean cut. But with tiny pills, it takes patience, although much easier than the "table cutter" or "scissor" designs that are more common, where you have to guess where the upper cutter blade will fall, often resulting in a partially crushed pill. The other downside is cost, with this device costing as much as 3 times what other pill splitters cost, but in this case getting what you paid for, and with the build quality likely never having to buy another. This is the real deal, and gets my highest recommendation.

Very well made product - Excellent Pill cutter easily cuts pills into half's and quarters 1/2 - 1/4its cuts for example ; a 8-9mm Pill easily into 1/2 or 1/4 ( half OR quarters ) , very easy to use and is a solid well made device , the blades are excellentI have manged to cut a pill (8/9mm) into 1/8 but its more tricky !!! , my only requirement / improvement would be for a Pill cutter to cut a 8mm Pill into 1/8ths etc - a bigger Pill this would be no issue etc

One of our cats has THE tiniest round coated unscored pill that I have to split. The pill splitters I tried previously would end up splitting unevenly or crushing part of the pill. I just received the Equadose splitter just in time to fill up her weekly pill case and holy cow did it work great! Once you get the hang of it, it is a breeze to cut even the worst fiddly little pill perfectly. Thank you thank you thank you! You have saved my sanity and the wasted medication.

I have been giving my cat blood pressure medication for a few years. They are the smallest pills I have ever seen and they need to be split in 1/4 's !!! I have tried probably 20+ pill splitters - each would work for maybe a few times then same old result - crushed pills worthless to me! Often I would only get one usable quarter per pill. So yes, this is a bit expensive but the money it has saved me in having to refill his medication over and over has more than paid for itself. It DOES take some time to get the positioning right - because the pill is so small. It can be a bit tedious at first but after a while I know exactly how to do it. Again this is worth the effort in the long run!Update: I have now been using this splitter since November - 6 months and it is still as great as it was when I got it. I have saved a lot of money as don't ruin pills anymore. I have the smallest pills I have ever seen with NO scoring to split. They are expensive and I was averaging maybe 2 doses out of 4 per pill. Quite a difference. I have been splitting this pill for almost 5 years and gone through every pill splitter created and this is the ONLY ONE that has worked. I have seen so many complaints about it's difficulty in using or showing crushed pills and I will say there is a learning curve. Meaning you do have to position it correctly to get equal quarters so yes, in the first few uses I did average only 2 pieces per 4. However, not once did the pill crush. After I learned exactly how to place it and use it, no issues - ever! So I guess the bottom line is how much is it worth your time and money to take the time you need to practice with it when ultimately you are rewarded with a pill splitter you will use long term and save money! I have pictured a cut pill. This is what I get each and every time I use it. The pill actually looks larger in the photo and I forgot to take a photo before splitting the last pill in this bottle but in comparison it is half the size of an Advil tablet, or less than half the size. It's tiny!!Update: It is 2025 - 7 years since I wrote this review. I have over the years had to split pills for 5 cats as they aged and a Golden Retriever. Over the years sadly 4 cats have passed away as did the golden. All lived long happy lives. However, my husband and I have also aged and now we are splitting pills for our selves and our 1 remaining cat. So there has never been a long time between uses in our house! Just want to say it is still as sharp as ever, never crushes, always perfect cut. Some pills easier than others but most are tiny. I must admit it did take some time for me to learn how to eyeball the perfect position and adjust between the blades which may not be an easy task for arthritic or unstable hands (which I don't have yet fortunately) but otherwise it's still as sharp and precise as ever.
