Epiphone PR-4E Acoustic-Electric Guitar
Epiphone's newest baby is the PR-4E Acoustic-Electric Guitar and it is a real workhorse acoustic/electric for the stage and in the studio. This ideal size and shape guitar is constructed with Mahogany body and Select Spruce top, Mahogany neck with Rosewood fingerboard and Chrome hardware. It features a passive piezo pickup with volume control.

Cutaway Style
Some ask why a guitar in the cutaway style. The answer is simple: better access to the frets. A single cutaway allows the fingers to move past the neck-body join. In an acoustic guitar, cutaways can change the sound quality of the guitar. In an electric guitar, it makes no difference if it is a single cutaway or a double cutaway. It all comes down to style and fingering preference.

Studio-10 Acoustic Amp
This is a small 10-Watt solid-state practice amp made by Epiphone. Its controls include volume, gain, treble, mid, bass and a boost switch. The controls are excellent for an amp this size. This versatile amp is excellent for the beginner and can take a more experienced player a long way. It is ideal as a practice amp. It does not sacrifice sound while it protects your fuses.

Has a 10-Watt amp (Shown in black).

So far has survived the abuse of my constant strumming technique practices for 1 hour a day since it came out of the box and tunedTwo months of heavy use practicing strumming techniques have broken ONLY one string(High E-1St string) due to learning how to use the string tuners (Turning tuner in the wrong direction)Acoustically does not have the big base does have a great mello tone Electronically the sound is very impressive through the Epiphone 15C amplifier that came with the guitar packageI have also plugged into my Peavey Stage amplifier The sound is much more impressive with a more professional amplifierEpiphone could have put some better string tuners on the PR4E model that i haveVery Satisfied with my purchaseMarch 13th 2018So far other than the strings getting caught in the nut I have had no problems I have given the guitar a good cleaning changed the strings with same sizes that came on Lubed strings and will change the nut soon I found a device to alleviate the problem of strings getting caught in the nut in the future Still very satisfied with my purchase

There are questions about the size of this guitar. 8.2 cm to 9.3 cm are the measurements for the body width as it tapers thinner from the neck end toward the thicker back end. Epiphone states the width at 8.5 cm which is an average width measurement. EDITED SIZE NOTES:The size in inches of the guitar body size is15"*11.25"*19"with a width 3.73" to 3.25"that slopes wider toward the lower bout end. This is the size of a Martin or Taylor "Concert" or "Auditorium" guitar except that the body is narrower by about 3/8 of an inch. I received mine yesterday and it is a spectacular instrument at this price. The craftsmanship of this guitar is at a very high standard. The red hues in the dark mahogany body glisten through the polished lacquer sides and back. I could not find any flaws in the surfaces or the binding. The frets were well fitted with no sharp edges for fingers to catch on. It was ready to play after tuning the supplied strings which are phosphor bronze. The string were not rubbish as some people reported but clean and I enjoyed strumming and picking until my fingers started to say stop and let me calous a bit more. The sound was full and brightly warm unplugged. A very satisfying sound I used the amp for a few minutes...just enough to know that all the functions seem to work but more testing will follow. My impression: This is a fine looking amp and I don't anticipate any problems since I've read many words by guitarists praising this amplifier. This guitar and amplifier.is a high quality musical instrumental pairing. The extras are good too. The little chromatic tuner is a handy add on. There were two identical black guitar straps with white E logos at both ends in the box but there was not a cd to be found. The literature states that lessons are available on the internet to be downloaded so I will look for that ... the only problem is finding a suitable hard guitar case to protect it because the soft gig bag doesn't protect against traumatic incidents. I use a larger than needed case to which I added padding around a below the PR-4e guitar so it doesn't rattle around and has a soft landing when inside the case. This is NOT "just a beginner package" in fact it is a cut above other beginner guitar packs I've seen. There will be a need for refining the setup and adjustments when weather and environment change but that is just part of the learning experience with all guitars and I'm learning to appreciate that.I wrote most of the above when I bought it and after several months I'm still very pleased. It's sound is fully pleasing as an acoustic only and when plugged in the amp allows experimenting with a great variety of electricified acoustic modalities. It's for fun and serious practice and performance. I still say 5-stars.

I didn’t really need another guitar I bought a Fender Acoustic less than a year ago and I have a couple of other guitars, but I seen this offer while browsing looking for a practice amp. I checked out online reviews, mostly from the U.S. I was a bit skeptical because of the low price but I have heard of Dawsons Music Stores and that they offer very good customer service so I went ahead with the purchase.THE GUITAR:I was really very surprised by the quality of the Epiphone PR-4E guitar for a guitar that came as part of a beginner pack, it is excellent value for money, if I was buying just the guitar on its own I would expect to pay around this price or even slightly more. It compares very well with sub £200 guitars and is much better than some I’ve come across. The action is good and can be used straight out of the box, just tune it up and away you go, I don’t know if the shop sets the action before it leaves the store but it is almost perfect. Playing it as an acoustic without the amp is good and for such a thin body it resonates very well and is a clear crisp sound. I would recommend this for beginners or even more experienced players, it makes a great 2nd guitar for just knocking around. The pre-amp is basic but does the job it is designed for and once you get used to it you will find it easy to use.THE AMP:Amazing, this is the only way to describe this amp, it’s not the type of amp to plug in a strats to but it is fantastic for acoustics, that said I plugged in a solid body strats copy and it handled most stuff okay. The volume for such a small box is unbelievable you have to hear it to appreciate just how good it is. In some reviews I seen it said it could be used for small gigs, I thought ‘ye right’! But you really could use it for a small pub lounge or somewhere like that. The pack also comes with a clip on tuner, a gig bag (if you are travelling with the guitar a lot I would recommend you invest in a more substantial gig bag offering more protection), 3 plectrums, a guitar cable, strap and somewhere there is free eMedia lessons, I don’t know where or if they are any good, I can’t find any information in the box, I’m sure Dawsons will be able to assist you with this.Overall a great bargain, I was very pleasantly surprised and would certainly have no hesitation to recommend this pack to any young or old beginners. Buy and enjoy!

I read all reviews on this before I took a leap of faith and got it and all the good reviews are accurate. This guitar and amp is legit. I have been around musicians my whole life. Not so much these days as they are all now in there 50's and we don't get together as much and I am missing the sound of the acoustic guitar. I don't know how to play but I am determined to learn. For a beginner, this is a great guitar! The size is just what I wanted. The neck is standard size. So I don't feel like it's a kids version guitar. I showed it to 3 people who are guitar players and they are impressed with how good it is and has no flaws. Also they are impressed it is electric and comes with an amp and strap and strings and etc all for $199. I am super happy with it! Beautiful sound. The only thing that is not great is the tuner (Didn't work for me, I have yet to have someone look at it and see what they think though and it feels so cheap that it could break in my hands with just a little squeeze) and the guitar case. I tried to put the guitar in the case and it is really so very very snug and when I tried to zip it up the zipper broke under the pressure of trying to pull it. But I think I can fix it if I really wanted to. But those two things did not stop me from rating 5 stars. The amp is loud and amazing quality. Does not look or feel or sound cheap at all.

Epiphone is a subsidiary of Gibson so there is some good quality here for this low of a price.. Don't expect the same quality or sounds of a high priced Gibson, Martin, or Taylor.. This is a beginner's guitar.. I would never do any work on this guitar unless you have the correct tools and absolutely know what you are doing.. I took mine down to a local shop and had the end tips of the frets filed down a bit.. They were on the rough or jagged side..they charged a nominal fee. People talk about changing the action.. Leave it to a pro unless you know exactly what to do.. The huge package arrived inside of a huge outer box.. Arrived quickly and with no damage.. My only big complaint is the instructional DVD that comes with the package.. It is old and outdated.. A newer DVD was made specifically for Epiphone Guitars, using this same guitar, amp, and tuner.. It is entitled Easy Acoustic Guitar DVD: Beginner Basics And Beyond by Mark John Sternal.. Not sure why they don't include this in the package.. Available through Amazon for around $12.95. The amp is okay for a beginner and the tuner isn't the best but will do. Why do they bother with gig bags?. As far as I am concerned, they are all garbage.. Spend a few bucks and get a decent hard case.. For the price, this will get you through the beginner's stage until you are ready to upgrade to a fine guitar. A beginner really can't notice the difference until he gets that ear and can distinguish what a fine guitar looks and sounds like. One other thing that I notice from reading other reviews.. People are complaining about buzzing on the strings or vibrations.,this is usually due to a slight change in the "action" on the neck.. This is a quick fix using the allen wrench supplied in the package or taking it to a local shop for a rather quick fix. The wrench is to adjust the truss rod which adjusts the overall curvature of the neck.. Most beginners are not real skilled at doing this.. Have a pro show you how or study up the many videos available online.
