Very disappointed with everything about the operating system. Method used to upgrade system. The system is clunky. It seems like a tenth grader developed the interface. For instance, this is a head unit for a BMW E46, yet the screen brightness has 3 choices, ON for day light, OFF for night, and Automatic based on headlights, PROBLEM IS THE LIGHTS ARE ON WHENEVER THE CAR IS RUNNING. This makes it a pain to adjust screen brightness.Ad saidAndroid 13, that is not the case, and unless you subscribe to a cellular data plan you will not be able to update it to Android 13. I tried connecting it to my iPhone hotspot, but it was not able to see my iPhone hotspot with my iPhone next to the antennas. All thing considered avoid the EONON head units!!!IF I COULD SEND IT BACK I WOULD, But I waited until I had enough time to do a slow. Careful installation.8/17/2024 Today the screen whey BLACK, couldn't turn it off or on, pressing reset didn't do anything. I had to remove the unit and unplug the main black power connector. Still can't update the operating system because it cannot see my hot spot on my iPhone 14 Pro Max.As far as sound goes, I'm not impressed at all. The radio interface is ugly and has a lot of wasted space, looks like it a work in progress. I noticed that when I removed the unit to remove power, it was running hot to the touch.WISH I COULD RETURN IT FOR A REFUND!!BOTTOM LINE "DON'T BUY THIS HEAD UNIT SPEND A LITTLE MORE AND GET SOMETHING THAT IS FINISHED"

I originally bought another android headunit to use in my E46 which fit in the single DIN space of my original radio (no factory NAV but with HK speakers) but was a bit too large for the space. So I opted to try this "direct fit" option. Install was so easy, they had everything wired and harness ready out of the box. Literally took 15 minutes to remove the dash and center console panels required and install the headunit. This was not the first time I've done it so no searching for screws which sped me up quite a bit this go around. Sound wise just having an actual EQ vs the factory bass/mid/treb only options makes a HUGE difference. I haven't hooked up the rear or dash cams yet but man the fit and finish on this is perfect, it looks right at home. Do be prepared to need to buy/make/modify the bracket for the climate control to slide down to the lower dash. I just used rime a rotary tool and test fitting to modify the existing piece that held my pop out cubby in place previously. I'll update my review with pics the dash since I forgot to take any during install.

The fitment and finish were great. There’s not a lot of customization on the main screen. Inputs on android auto were laggy even after I updated the radio to android 13. Sound was good and steering wheel controls worked somewhat. The controls on the wheel wouldn’t change tracks on AA but worked fine over Bluetooth. It’s a great solution for someone who wants a simple install.

Wasnt expecting such a great product! Own a e46? This is a must have!

I recently purchased the Eonon Android 12 CarPlay, Android Auto Car Stereo, and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. Let me save you the trouble and tell you why this product is a complete waste of money.First off, the installation process was a disaster. The so-called "easy installation" they advertise turned out to be a nightmare. The included instructions were vague and poorly translated, making it nearly impossible to figure out how to install this thing properly. It took me hours of frustration and trial-and-error before I finally got it somewhat working.Once I managed to get it set up, the performance was abysmal. The touted "Octa Core" processor felt more like a snail struggling through molasses. Apps took forever to load, and even the simplest tasks like adjusting the volume or changing a radio station were painfully slow. This is supposed to be a modern Android 12 system, but it feels like something from the stone age.The touchscreen was a disaster too. It was unresponsive and inaccurate, leading to constant frustration while trying to use any of the features. Android Auto and CarPlay integration was a joke - half the time, my phone wouldn't even connect, leaving me without access to essential navigation and communication functions.And let's not forget the sound quality - or lack thereof. The audio output was riddled with distortion and crackling noises, completely ruining the listening experience. I tried adjusting the settings, but nothing seemed to make a difference. It's laughable that they market this as a "car radio" when it can barely produce decent sound.To add insult to injury, the build quality is cheap and flimsy. It feels like it would fall apart if you looked at it the wrong way. I wouldn't trust this product to last more than a few months, and considering its outrageous price tag, that's simply unacceptable.Lastly, customer support was absolutely useless. When I reached out to them with my issues, they took days to respond, and their solutions were generic and unhelpful. It's evident that they don't care about their customers once they've made a sale.In conclusion, the Eonon Android 12 CarPlay, Android Auto Car Stereo is a total disaster. Save your money and sanity by avoiding this product like the plague. There are far better car stereos out there for a similar price or even less. Trust me; you'll thank me later.

More then expected, the sound is amazingWas really surprised with this unit easy install and to use But note that the antena cable provided will not work with the BMW e46 u will need a powered antena adapter

Let me start off by saying as of now I’m fully satisfied coming from a factory speaker. Looks wise has a nice clear updated look fits just about perfect I would say it’s plug and play but there is minor minor tugs and pushing to fit what needs to be fit.... the trim around the old radio need to be cut but who cares when your getting a 10x bigger and better radio then factory. Installment is very simple get a trip tool with your radio pop off couple trim take out a couple screws move the ac control then plug what you want up. I didn’t have a problem on my end got confused bc I was lucky and the radio plug fit with no adopter but the I don’t know where to put the amp cord if this happens to you they come with a extra set of wires in the box just read till you find amp and plug up the blue cord. Other then that I never have token my car apart and I couldn’t no believe how easy and simple it is. So super simple from 1-5 5 being changing engine 1 being brake lights it’s a 2.3 highly suggest watch a couple different installment videos and take the shot and do it your self. Now for the accessories that come with OB2 sensor , back up cam , and dash cam ( side purchases for there Apple CarPlay device )Starting with the Obvious who wouldn’t want a ob2 for there bmw so highly recommend if you don’t have one already very simple easy to use.The back up camera was the tricky part to put in not due to the camera just the fact of running the wires from front to the back of car other then that plug wire from back of radio and hook up the camera and you will be satisfied afterwords. Clear enough at night takes a little to load up when first starting the car but I got no complaints from having no screen at all ( factory radio ) to having this up to date 9 inch radio screen that fits almost perfect in my bmw e46 you will not be unhappy. Best part of all once you learn to take the radio out your self not one problem can get in your way you will fix and handle everything. GET THE BACK UP CAM Put in.Dash cam was really easy to use plug in usb nothing can go wrong only problem is couple ugly wires in the way. If your good at hiding wires would not have no issues also not necessarily for the dash cam up to you tho.Apple car play ( option purchase) this dose not come free but if it was from best to last it would be back up cam , Apple car play , ob2 then dash cam. You already have Apple play depending on your radio but this is a android unit so if you have iPhone and want to run it up smoothly clearly buy this add on. Customer service was A1 did not expect it at first I was a little iffy they respond in about a day I’m thinking they need to respond faster but then I understood they are across the world so they really extremely fast for time zone difference very simple to talk to and you’ll be happy and comfortable with the outcome just sit back and wait you’ll get everything in a timely manner very happy with everything.Overall purchase 10out of 10. If you have speaker upgrades or good speakers you’ll give it 15out of 10 for me I put in the radio with blown out speakers because I’m waiting for my new upgrade speakers to come in the mail so I had a little time to understand the true upgrade of this speaker. Let me say this on both factory and upgraded speaker your max level volume sounds about wen you put it on 30% on this upgrade radio so you’ll enjoy the sound upgrade regardless but radio plus upgraded speakers ( bavsound) I’m telling you when you thought your E46 was nice with factory radio when you put this bad boy in and you’ll refresh the beautiful drive from the inside. the installation was a breeze. I've never installed a headunit before and this was easy for me. everything was plug and play and required no splicing. i have a 2003 330i with HK sound system. there are great installation vids on youtube if you get stuck. i believe in the 2020 versions of this headunit they got rid of that issue of having to splice together the Amp control to the ANT as the wires came with connectors already assembled on the harness, simply connect the two wires by plugging them into one another and you have sound! total time took me about 50 mins. sound quality is amazing and i have no regrets about getting rid of the oem radio.

This radio was by far the easiest install I have ever done, input it in my 2001 330i and everything was plug and play, it came with 2 different plugs for the bmw radio factory harness to make sure you have the correct one for your E46. There was absolutely no splicing need, and they held true to their free gift even after I had recieved the radio although so far I have only been able to get the OBD2 reader and not the back up camera. The radio comes with everything as advertised including the wifi antenna and the nav antenna as well as the panel removal tool. DOES NOT COME WITH THE CAR PLAY DONGLE!
