A repeat customer, because their 30AWG is also of excellent quality. This wire is completely as described, with the same ease of use and reliability as previously purchased. I actually searched for the name and not just the wire gauge to buy it. Printed on the label is "High quality magnet wire" and it is!The wire 'tins' easily, by coating the soldering iron in solder then drawing the end of the wire through. It's a method which doesn't always work with some brands, but always does with Essmetuin products. Pull strength is solid and the enamel coating can be trusted for the whole run of wire on the spool.

Need to fix some traces and got some thin enameled wire as it was recommended. But as no one compared this 38 awg to say a penny i had no idea how thin it really is. Should work great but wow thats thin.

I used this 38-awg magnet wire to upgrade my switch and it worked really well. I tried using 38-awg wire but it was too rigid which cause the solder point to snap off when I tried to bend it around a corner of PCB components. However, with 38-awg magnet wire, it is so thin and flexible that I had no issue when I bent the wires. I highly recommend it.

When using LEDs for T-TRAK modules, one of the issues encountered is the relatively large wire leads. For N scale, they can be a distraction. By using fine wire, it is much easier to hide the leads and even tuck them into contours of structures, vehicles, etc. This wire is quite awesome for such projects.

The 30 AWG bell wire worked well to construct two 12-turn inductors. I used both epoxy and rubber glue on the wire enamel insulation without damaging the insulation. I was able to solder the wire to a connector without having to scrape off the enamel insulation first, which made soldering steps faster. The spool has about 363 feet (110 m) of wire on it. The wire and inductors worked as expected. ------------- Project Details -------The first thing I did after getting the 30 AWG bell wire was drilled a hole in the plastic spool to provide a convenient place to run the spool wire-end through when the spool is stored, which prevents the wire from unspooling. The spool permitted access to both ends of the wire, so I burned off the enamel insulation using a butane lighter and sanded the wire ends to expose the copper. The spool wire resistance was 37.8 ohms, which indicates that about 110 m (363 feet) of wire is on the spool for the 50g copper weight specified.The wire was used to create a current-probe amplifier consisting of two 12-turn loops so that I can measure 0.5A maximum current on a pair of wires sourcing the current and have the current probe reach it 6A full-scale limit. I used a DIN connector to provide terminals to access the loop made. I was able to wrap the wire around the connector solder post and solder the wire without removing the enamel insulation (the solder pencil heat burned off the insulation and exposed clean copper that the solder adhered to). The 30 mm coil loop made was made solid with 5-minute epoxy, which did not damage the wire insulation. I also used rubber glue and cable ties to attach the connectors to the loop. The loop made was then protected with tape, which prevents damage to the enamel insulation during day-to-day use of the current amplifier. Testing showed that the current-scaling accuracy was within the measurement accuracy of 0.6%. The wire did not warm noticeably even with 0.5A going through it but I will normally be using the current loop with less than 0.25A current.
