I’ve not used it yet as it will go into my emergency grab bag. It was delivered quickly and I’m pleased with the product.

Ordered this for my bug out bag. Plenty of magnesium comes in this to start a nice fire for several months I can only assume. It's one of those things you never use, but you are glad to have just in case. There is enough to spread out over several locations if you are making up survival gear for a few. I just needed to update my gear for my car.

Good material, quantiy ok. I played with some and packed the rest in my emergency camping kits...Lights easily with a fero rod and then gives you a hot fast flame.

If weight is not an issue, i.e. car camping, I would recommend using a Duraflame fire starter or log for longer burn time to get your fire started. I bought this for backpacking, where I need to keep my pack weight down, the magnesium is very light. One baggie is enough to get a couple fires started. The key is to be ready with kindling and smaller pieces of wood, to get the fire started. The magnesium burns hot and fast - so you need to be ready to keep the fire stoked. Easily lit with a butane torch lighter.Overall, highly recommended when weight really matters or for an emergency fire-starting kit. But if you’re starting a backyard fire pit or car camping, I would opt for the longer burn time of a Duraflame starter or log.

Only advice I have besides buy this now is to have your tinder ready before you start. This stuff ignited so fast and hot by the time my shocking amazement wore off the fire was out. I practiced a few more times and got better. Besides working as advertised its also pretty cool and so cheap I'm going to practice with this one and show off to my friends and family and then buy another kit to keep in my caamping gear and safety kits

I love this fire starter, did a bunch of research before purchasing and it seemed to be a a good thing to add to my fire starter kit, and guess what ive havent stopped using it since i got it, this paired with a ferro rod burns super hot and gets fires going even in wet enviroments, only con is its super light so it will blow away if u dont secure it.

I did a small test of the magnesium and it works perfectly as promised. I will buy more when I need it. The seller is great too. I had so many questions and they answered them promptly. If I knew how to post a pic of my test I'd show you. Believe me.. I tried. All said...great seller and great product! I highly recommend both.I am reordered this product today. I don't know why other people had a problem with it. I split it up between my car for emergencies and in my house for my wood stove. It actually works better than they described if you do it right. And ... sorry guys but I didn't have to use a lot of it to get a great fire going. I'll buy it again when I run out. I live in a remote area of northern California where the Camp Fire of 2018 left us in disarray. We are often without power and have had evacuation warnings since then. I consider magnesium a part of my survival gear. All I can say to the people who had trouble with it is did they do it right? By itself it isn't going to make a fire. You have to use it with tinder and kindling just like you would building any fire.

I have no doubt that these work but camping season is over here and I am not inclined to test these in the house. Not a good move. Once ignited it gets extremely hot and water will not put the fire out. It will have to wait for next year to test in a fire. Use caution.
