CD-ROM in package doesn't work with Windows 10. Must go to website and download workable version. Alos must upgrade to newer version of QuickTime player. In theory only supposed to use on one computer. Lessons for beginner. I like tuner availability and MIDI audio files that can be speeded up or slowed down. Extra songs on web site mostly from bands I am not familiar with. Wouldn't buy again.

If you are running the latest version of windows, you will have to go to the website and download the latest version of this program. No big deal as it installs easily and quickly. Just use the included code found on the enclosed software. Lessons are straight forward, well organized and planned. extremely helpful for a beginner or someone like me who has started]stopped and restarted learning to play the guitar. These lessons are holding my attention and it is actually a fun learning process.

I have musical experience, but none in guitar or a similar stringed instrument. With this software, I was able to tune my new guitar, learn several chords and play some songs, all in half an hour. I have a windows 7 computer, and had no trouble with the install.I've gone through a couple of chapters, and I think the instruction is very clear. Obviously, the biggest factor to success is continuing the lessons and practice. Others have complained about the song choice and singing of the instructor being not to their taste. The song choice is a reasonable mix of generic songs. As for the instructor's singing, he's in tune, if not great and my interest in guitar is not dependent on the inspirational singing of the instructor. What's important to me is the lessons in chords and strumming and the exercises and this software seems so far to be good at that.I have picked up several emedia software programs this holiday season on lightening deals, and so far, I have been pleased with all of them (singing method, piano and ear-master 6 as well). Very well though musical lessons, for those that don't have the time or the inclination to seek out a human teacher, these will take you a reasonable way into mastery. It's great that these are interactive lessons -- the microphone on your computer picks up your exercises and the software grades and comments on your progress as you complete each exercise - perhaps more accurately than a teacher would. So it is by no means a one sided lesson experience.

The lessons are very short, and go by very quickly. They are good lessons, but it doesn't take long to go through them, and there isn't a lot of extra content to practice with for each lesson to help you master it before going on to the next section. Still not bad for the price--and we'll see how much improvement is made after spending some more time with the program.

I just want to post a word of warning about this product. After looking carefully at all the different beginning guitar instruction books, DVDs, and software programs offered on Amazon, I finally selected this one as probably the most promising for a total novice guitar player like myself, despite what seemed to me to be the overly-slick advertising that promised the moon. I was quite excited when it arrived and couldn't wait to get started. When I attempted to install the program from the CD-ROM, however, I was in for a surprise. The installation would appear to be completed, but when I tried to open the program I would get an error message and it would shut down. I tried uninstalling it and re-installing it several times on three different computers (all PCs), and the same thing happened each time. I called eMedia for tech assistance, and after working through many telephone menu options was told to leave a message. I didn't receive a response. I also emailed, was asked when and where I bought the project, and what version it is, and was told that they would get back to me. They didn't. I finally just decided that it wasn't worth the continued hassle (besides, if the program won't load, it isn't of much use!), returned the item, and bought two other highly-rated beginning guitar DVD/book sets for less than the price of this single product. Let me emphasize that this is not a review of the product itself. For all I know it might be fabulous. But you have to be able install it before you can judge its fabulosity. In the future I am going to steer clear of CD-ROM instructional packages and stick with DVDs, CDs, and books. Maybe you'll have better luck with this product than I did. Maybe not. In either case, caveat emptor!

The software is good. The lessons are very progressive and complete. I like the system. The rest is about practicing

I haven't used it very long, as I got sidetracked by playing and learning guitar with Rocksmith for Xbox 360. The navigation of the software is good and easy to move forward or listen to detailed narratives. Many prior reviews were correct when they stated the the narrator sings badly (sounds like Tiny Tim), but oh well. The instruction and visuals are well done. As opposed to other learning methods, this one starts you out by learning chords which is fine since you are knocking out the more challenging part. Overall, so far so good.

This is a powerful learning tool and well worth the money, even accomplished players can learn from the more advanced sections. Bought a guitar for your children to play ? Buy this, it is as good if not better then tuition, this is a good well thought out and powerful learning tool.

I'm a beginner guitarist of a mere 2 months and bought this product hoping to learn more than I have taught myself from books and internet.Unfortuanatly all have found is the simple basics explained. don't get me wrong , you do need this knowledge and it is explained ok. My problem is that there is no book to accompany this dvd, but what is more upsetting is the fact that it advertise over 7o songs in tabulature form.It does do 70 songs, but they are all small simple songs like Frere Jacques (3 Times), drunken sailor, etc not what is advertised on box such as Rolling Stones, where you would expect songs like, satisfaction, paint it black. It does have a metonome and chord finder but it seems to me that everything is based around acoustic guitar so techniques such as hammer ons, pulloffs, bends, . the style you would want to learn as a young person wanting to join a band are not even mentioned.IT appears that if you want to learn the other techniques you have to invest in at least another 4 dvds and I dont think that this product is any where near the cost it should be.Too expensive for what it is.I also thought that it would have a download facility so that you could expand the song vocbulary. I was wrong again. Some people might like the simplicity of this product, but I found it a big let down,Not enough songs, no full modern songs, no book
