Worked perfect on my truck and my neighbors car. Even has a small ultra violet light in case you also want to add dye . Found my leak and I don't need to dump a can in every month. Worth the money.

Do not buy this it does not work. I put it to three different refrigerant tanks r22 507c and 410a Literally put the tip directly to the tank, opened it, and it did nothing returning with very much disappointment

This device works! It’s a dream if you’re trying to find a leak in a charged A/C system. In under 2 minutes, this device verified that my car’s under hood a/c piping had no leaks but found an elusive leak in the evaporator core that (because it’s hidden behind a baffle) was not visible to a uv dye test. The manual is a bit messed up (it incorrectly refers to a “siren” as indicating a leak) but the device itself is absolutely simple to use — its like a geiger counter for refrigerant leaks (when the probe comes near a leak it starts beeping faster). If you need to find where a partially charged ac system is leaking refrigerant, you need this amazing device!

Has been a great tool for the value..glad I purchased this and been handy for the past wo years . it senses 410a effectively . I now feel as if it's operating erratic from time to time and may need to perhaps just let it rest..cleaned sensing tip and aware i can order another tip. I've been satisfied with this purchase..great tool to have or as backup.

For the price this seems to be a decent product but, sadly, I have a R134A system with a slow leak and it could not find it. But if you remove the cap from one of the service ports it readily detects the residual refrigerant under the cap from an inch or two away so it clearly works. It's important to read the instructions fully. It calibrates to the ambient environment when you first turn it on. So for maximum sensitivity you should turn it on outdoors well away from any sources of refrigerant. Some of the negative reviews seem to be from people who didn't understand how to use it. For one thing it's normal for it to steadily beep all the time about twice per second but some apparently concluded that made it defective. The instructions also mention the sensor will eventually wear out or become unstable so consider this a throw away tool but, for the price, that's reasonable enough. With what commercial techs charge this tool could easily pay for itself if it leads to a DIY repair or saves you from replacing the wrong components. HVAC and auto A/C service is a licensed and hence rather protected industry with often very high prices for the actual labor and materials involved. So a DIY diagnosis is worth a try. There are lots of helpful videos online.
