First of all, for its price, this is a decent set if you don't need true precision. I'll start with the cons.Cons:The claimed resolution is 5 hundredths but there's just no way. Not even a fake test sheet (or one copied from a passing measure) to validate. Mounting this on the lathe and measuring a turned surface can show several thousandths variation measuring the exact same spot depending on how (what direction) you approach the spot. This makes me believe the tip surface is less accurate than the dial, or the mechanism is not terribly robust. The two choices of meters are too easy to mess up. I received the one I did not order, but only realized it later. The spring force for the indicating probe is also quite high. If you are indicating soft metals, the spring force will deform the material being measured. The arm is not hydraulic locking (which is pretty typical for the price) but the materials are soft. Locking it adequately in the same place multiple times will deform the pressure levers and balls.Base is.... likely out of square. It's very roughly machined and the magnet never fully disengages. When locked, it is not terribly well locked down. I am not convinced the mag base is strong enough to fully overcome the pressure of the spring tip. With enough eccentric variation in a measured surface, the mag base appears to move 1-2 thou.PROS/conclusion:For relative measurements on a lathe, this works well enough. (According to a micrometer test, this is only within 1 thou for the first 30-40% of its travel. It is never accurately within five tenths.) The arms CAN be locked into a rigid position, but I am unsure how long that will last. For a hobbyist where tolerances can be adjusted for one-off projects, this is probably fine, but I wouldn't use it for anything that needed to be repeatable. For light duty work or occasional use, this should be fine (but expect the batteries to die quickly). Don't ever tighten the arm more than absolutely necessary for longest life (It's not hydraulic, so you cannot just top it off). In short; it works well enough, but take your accuracy needs and evaluate them against the specs for this and assume it will be less than half as accurate as advertised.

It’s a nice set. Used it to check runout on a outboard prop shaft.

Works well I wish the magnet was stronger but it's also being used an a non flat surface
