It's great to have when you need it. If you are working on a car with over 100,000 miles you know that the hoses could break and some of those hoses maybe so odd that you might have to go to the dealership. This little hook tool is a very nice thing to slip in and loosen up the inside of the clamp point. A hair dryer or a heat gun on low is another smart thing you can do to try to preserve your hose life. And always put the clamps back exactly as they were on for the best chance of success.

No sense in fighting the heater hoses and risk damaging the heater core. The handle is very smooth and gives you firm grip and control over the articulated tip. I have used some cheaper brand tools that are similar and they have snapped. This OTC brand tool, a well recognized brand, uses and obvious alloy of tool steel that is much more durable. I'll be using this very soon to replace the heater hoses for my old Jeep 4.0 engine.

Great for removing relatively large hoses, such as on your cooling system, where the hose has stuck to the fitting. This can get it and break that adhesion, at least enough so you can twist the hose and pull it off. I would recommend this or something similar any time you know you will be pulling coolant hoses.

I don't have an immediate need to pull a radiator hose but considering how bad I scratched up the upper hose fittings on my old Fusion when I changed it last fall (and nearly stabbed myself with a screwdriver) having this tool for the next time is the plan. Keeping it in the tool box for as needed uses for sure.

This is a good tool. It’s an OTC brand so it at least has some reputation behind it. The hook is very thick, but it is very sharp as well and can really get underneath most hoses. It really is only practical on larger radiator hoses. The grip is good and a hard plastic that doesn’t seem like it will have a way to slip off. Overall it’s a good product to break the seal on radiator hoses that have dried on. The only caution I would add is that you don’t want to pull too hard or pry because you could crack or deform the hose outlet.

This is a very basic tool that has a sharp point that tapers back and is used for sliding under rubber hoses. This will ease the removal of hoses such as vacuum, coolant etc. Great for older cars where the coolant hoses are stuck to radiator outlets/inlets etc. It's very sharp at the point, but that cab be filed down as needed. Otherwise, good basic hose remover.

Solidly made, with an effective sharp-pointed hook. Solid thick handle allows for a firm grip.
