I tried an off brand ecollar, it would randomly shock my beloved dog to the point it was counterproductive and I returned it. I really have a challenge on my hands with a rehomed GSD and was watching many youtube training videos. The ones from American Standard suggested this ecollar, and I've been using it for a few weeks, and the results are good. I actually use the vibrate mode the most, much like vibrate on a cell phone, it's stopped him from escaping through the hedges, seperation anxiety and I can walk him off leash even by other dogs, or geese at the park, with perfect recall. Got in touch with the manufacturer.It was easy to contact them, even easier to talk with a real human! They care about their product and it shows! Things have taken care of. This collar is amazing for our uses. We have a boy, rescue, that had to go to boot camp, a cane corso/neopolitan mix. I was taught when and how to use it. Mostly, we give a quick tap to get him to stop counter surfing. I put it on him when I wake up and it's on him till bedtime. He may go 2 weeks before I actually remind him it's on. Boot camp was 4yrs ago and the collar finally died in October. I bought the same exact collar then. This collar. After 2 1/2 months, it died. That is the reason for 3 stars. For the price it should last longer.

Read the instruction booklet first and try out adjusting configurations BEFORE putting on your dog. Steps are not intuitive and takes some practice attempts to remember how to use buttons and what does what. Very effective in getting dog's attention and your dog will quickly learn behavior you want to reinforce. Collar loses power about half way through day even though the flashing light on collar shows green and charged dog does not respond. It would be better if status light showed red when collar battery is no longer effective. Once you become accustomed to how to configure and use, the collar and control is easy to use. I would purchase this product again.

I held it in my hand while applying stimulation, so that I could see what it felt like. It does not hurt, but it does get your attention.GIVES TONE OR VIBRATION OPTIONS:You can set it to give tone or vibration prior to giving stimulation, so dogs quickly associate the vibration with the need to pay attention. Half the time I don’t even have to use stimulation.WORKED ON MY 2 YEAR OLD RESCUES WITH NO PRIOR TRAINING:I have only been using it for 7 days, and I see more improvement in just 7 days than I have in their entire life. They actually seem calmer because they have clear consistent training. No anxiety from wondering what is expected of them and trying to figure out boundaries and rules.START LOW, GO SLOW:Just start your dog at a low setting, I started at three and worked my way up. With these stimulation collars, I do not need a professional trainer because I am able to do it myself successfully. And we are talking about two dogs that were pretty much feral when I got them. Did not work right and not everything was there. When I tried to message them they wouldn't message me back. I ended up going to the actual company and they replaced it.
