Temperature-controlled cable runs straight along pipe and valves, held in place by application tape and plugs into grounded electrical outlet. Keeps water flowing down to -380. For odd lengths of pipe over 3/4-inch in diameter, we recommend two separate cables on opposite sides of the pipe with up to 3-feet of overrun at center of pipe run. Metal pipe requires 1/2-inch fiberglass insulation around cable. For plastic pipe, its recommended wrapping pipe with aluminum foil before cable installation. The traditional resistance cable produces a fixed amount of heat based on the electrical line feed. It comes with a built-in thermostat that switches the flow of electricity on and off based on temperature. Cable installs fast and easy. Each package contains grounded plug, built in thermostat and instructions. Cable has weather resistant pvc outer jacket and inner insulation. Keeps water flowing down to 40 f.

We purchased this to attach to our pipes to our RV to keep them from freezing during frigid temps. It has been amazing! No issues with frozen water at all! Purchase this if you need to keep you pipes heated! You won’t be sorry.

So bought here overnight to prepare for the winter. You need electrical tape, and I used closed cell foam insulation, rather than aluminum tape.

I bought the 80-foot item. Installation went as expected. The instructions are pretty good. Of course, you need to purchase some kind of adhesive tape separately, to attach the cable to the pipe. I used the brand tape ( - four rolls for 160') but you can use any high temperature rated electrical tape. Like always with these cables, you need to lay out the cable plan so that the full cable can be in contact with the pipe, including the thermostat module. The thermostat module needs to be attached directly to the pipe, hopefully at the coldest point. As for performance... it did work... eventually. We spent a lot of time jiggling things around before the cable actually started working. I can't tell you if it was a contact point in the plug, in the thermostat module, or in the end-cap at the other end. I can tell that it took several tries of adjusting the position of the cable before it started working. That doesn't inspire confidence. (And yes, I know it should have been working because I have an air temp sensor in place, as well as spot checks with an IR gun.) When it did start working, it did keep the pipe nice and toasty between 38 and 48 F. Note that the tape does not continuously run; it cycles on and off based on temperature demand.Do yourself a favor and get a weather sensor with outdoor probe and stick that under the insulation to keep track of the pipe temperature. Or get a Kill-A-Watt energy monitor () so you know if the cable is working. If the thermostat activates overnight, you won't be there, but the Kill-A-Watt will be there to measure the usage.I do wish the thermostat module was not flat, hard plastic. It would be better if it were concave-rounded to fit to a pipe more closely; even better if it were soft so you could mold it to the pipe surface and form a better thermal contact point.

Well, it's finally cold here in New York. We've even had freezing rain. Why do I mention this? Because the Easy Heat pipe cable is saving me a bundle by keeping my pipes from freezing. I can't even begin to tell you how happy and relieved that makes me especially after having my pipes freeze and crack last winter. The Easy Heat is heavy and the part that covers the heating wire is exceptionally thick giving peace of mind over what flimsy heat tapes provide which also provides a feeling knowing that this heat cable also provides a decent measure of safety as well. I really hope whoever reads this review takes me at my word. This is an excellent product at a fair price. ~D~

I just moved into a condo and the HOA president was using a heat lamp to prevent a pipe from freezing. The heat lamp was probably worked fine, but the energy consumption was off the charts considering the light was on 24 hrs a day... Not to mention that it might be a day or two before anyone checked to see if the light burned out. This heat coal is EXTREMELY easy to install and has a small light in the plug that ensures its plugged in and working. It's got a thermostat included and will automatically shut off based on the pipe temperature so there is zero wasted energy used. Since buying and installing this i have been on a mission to tell everyone about the convenience of this product. My neigbor leaves his faucet dripping to prevent his pipes from freezing... what a joke. Could you imagine the clean up cost if your pipes actually burst? Buy this heat coil and some insulation wrap and relax knowing that your pipes will never freeze.

Good stuff. Wish it came longer for my purposes. Has a glowing lighted plug to show it has power although there is no special indicator to show when heat is going through the wire. Made in Mexico for anyone interested in country of origin. Company website says about 7 watts per foot.It was easy to install, just get lots of electrical tape.
