This is a great heater for the garage and I imagine for the patio too. Unfortunately, it got too cold for patio use so I'll have to test that out in the Spring. I have tried using those sunflower heaters you put on 20# cylinders as well as a 200,000 BTU propane contractor canister heater in my unfinished garage, and what little radiates off of those does little to keep me warmed, and the rest, well just goes up through the trusses and out the ridge vent! Enter the patio heater. With it's large reflector, it reflects much of the radiant heat downward back to the floor where I want it, and surprisingly, very little goes over the heater - less than one would expect. So, why only four stars? This unit is delivered with "some assembly required." This was not an issue until I got to assembling the heater post and the heater head. The bolts and threaded inserts stripped out while securing these parts. The bolts to secure the head post extension were very soft and I stripped out one of the Philips heads in securing that part. I am currently using the heater in this condition, but when I start moving it around, I'm sure I will need to readdress this problem. In addition, the holes for the heater head didn't align well, and the head is slightly tilted. So, besides the assembly issues, I'm still quite pleased with the unit. It looks great and performs well and is like a heated oasis in a sea of ice! I'm sure it will be very enjoyable in the cool Spring and Autumn nights on the patio as well!

This unit replaced a commercial heater I picked up used several years ago. That unit had a concrete material for a base and some type of foam block that absorbed heat, along with a similar metal heat reflector. It was mainly used on my deck with two chairs underneath, one for myself and the other for my wife. Over the years the concrete block failed and crumbled and the unit just became a hassle to clean each year with the spiders laying their eggs in the gas jet nozzle. This unit is not commercial, but it emits more than enough heat to keep us warm at night, or for that early morning coffee outside. Right now itโs in the upper forties and lower fifties in Connecticut, and with a sweatshirt and sweatpants, Iโm perfectly toasty at 4:30am. I donโt even have the unit fully cranked - maybe 3/4 turned. The base is not as heavy, so I am concerned about those really windy days or major storms. I filled the base with water, but maybe I should try sand. Of course a full propane tank will add some weight too. It has a wheel base, so itโs easier to move than my commercial unit which had no wheels. Assembly took less than an hour, and it didnโt require any additional parts or extra materials by me to secure the pieces. Everything it came with was sufficient to put this thing together. I recommend a power drill, and maybe a small socket wrench to really get the bolts tight. It comes with those cheap wrench tools that will do the job, but youโll need some muscle to use them. Hardest part was assembling the heat shield, only because itโs a metal circle reflector cut into three parts most likely to make this whole unit fit into a large box. Itโs a pretty big heat reflector. Plastic on the heat reflector was a pain, but itโs like that to avoid scratching. Donโt know whyโฆ the unit is 7ft tall. Thatโs pretty standard height. My commercial unit was just as tall. Really, the difference here is the commercial unit had less assembly, so there are less tension points. Whereas this unit fits into a large 3x4 box, so youโre assembling the long tube in two pieces instead of one solid piece. I have the bronze model which looks pretty nice. For what you pay, itโs definitely worth the value. If itโs last five years, Iโll be happy. I donโt plan on covering it or taking it inside during the winter.

Don't you just love it when after you decide you want something, like a stainless steel patio propane heater, and you search and search, then decide on the one you want because it has good features and the price is good, and then you order it. Then it comes in early, the box is not damaged, the heater is in perfect condition, all the parts are there, all the hardware is there (plus some extra) and the instructions are simple but concise and easy to follow. Then you roll it onto your deck or patio, put a tank of propane in it, fire it up and it lights and works the first time.My wife and I set out under it the night after it arrived and it puts out plenty of heat. It was about 40 degrees, which is not to cold in the South the first week of December. It can drop into the teens here in January and February. Rollers make it easy to move and I like that it has a "tip over - cut off feature". Our pergola is covered with a clear tarp. The instructions say to keep this heater 48" from anything but the tarp is about 36" above it and I was worried about it with the heat. However, the big top shield keeps the heat from hurting it. I like that this one has the bottom panel that lifts up and rests on the unit to put in or take out the tank rather than a door. The ones with doors that I have seen seem to not work well nor look good. This one has an opening, front and rear, in the lower panel to reach in and to turn on/off the tank. Looks good, easy to use and it works well. All in all, my wife likes it. What more can I say?

The heat is there and is easy to light up.On the other hand, after one year, there are some spots (light surface rust) on the stainless(!) steel cover over the propane bottle. Iโm unable to get rid of them.

This is absolutely a super product. Have installed it on the patio and use it many nights now for dinner or other events and keep the table nice and warm even on cold nights of course in Arizona cold means 40ยฐ at the coldest. Very beautiful easy to maintain the way to good on the bottom and I actually added a 25 pound weight inside to give it some more added weight in case of any winds. It is very easy to use. Turns on right away, maintain its ignition and again this worked very well for over a month now of use.I am updating because I had an igniter problem and the company was very helpful working with me to try fix it, and even sending a new heater when the part was backlogged. AMAZING HEATER AND AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!5 Stars +
