they seem strong + sturdy I guess... but I couldn't use themI used the large cv boot clamps that came with the pliers to secure the bellows boots on the inner tie rod ends - 2004 Buick LeSabreI had to modify the clamps.But the pliers WOULD NOT reach - problem - you have to OPEN the pliers to get them around the part of the clamp to crimp. But with the pliers open, you can't get between the car parts to crimp the clamp.I ended up buying the knipex pliers, amazon # B01LWMEPYCI have pictures of the pliers side-by-side as well as the completed clamps on the boots.You have to go at different angles to crimp the clamps - not straight on, and the knipex will do it with the side clamp.Also, the Knipex has a tiny gap - this is so you don't cut the crimp part of the clamp.

Lots of reviews of fancier pliers said they broke or snapped in use. These are more basic -- you use them from one angle to crimp a new ring into place, and you turn them 90 degrees to snap off an old ring -- but are sturdy, well forged, and work reliably. Just be careful to place them at a 90-degree angle of the ring you're crimping; on my first try, I was sloppy and screwed up the crimp by going at the ring from a bad angle. Had to cut the ring off and use another to get it right.

I bought this set up to appropriately band the inner tie rod boots I was replacing for my truck. The large bands that were included worked perfectly. I simply wrapped the band around the boot to get a measurement to cut it to length before applying it. Worked great. Nice and tight like original. I would not trust using plastic zip ties for the boot application.

Crimps work great but the clamps are weak and could be a little more sturdy.
