Living in the up state of South Carolina we got hit moderately good by Hurricane Helene. As a result a red oak tree which has a base of 46 inches spit where the trunk Y'd into 2 smaller trunks about 10 feet from the ground. Rather than removing the tree we decided to try to save it by bolting the tree back together. This required drilling 3 - 1 1/8" holes throught the truck for the 1" treaded rod being used. I used this extension along with a 6" auger to make the holes. It was not easy taking a few hours, burned out a 1/2" drill and tearing up 2 bits at the end of this extension which performed flawless. I realize this extension is not intended for such heavy duty work however it performed beyond expectations.

I bought this to disassemble a deck, in order to re-use some of the wood. I had dozens of floor boards to remove, and this bit attached to my electric driver made for the perfect height allowing me to walk along the deck, removing all of the screws without having to 'hand n knee' it.Only difficulty is that after the job was complete, I had to wrestle my 1/4" bit out of the socket using my vice.Otherwise, it worked as advertised and saved my back in the process..

This item is perfect for drilling holes in framing in walls with existing drywall. Really flexible and sturdy. Perfect for anyone installing wiring.The customer service on the part of Eagle Tool is also amazing. One of the set screws fell out and was lost. I called their customer service line and they sent replacement screws out at no cost. That is how you run a business and keep customers!

Great extension bit. I thought its bendable, but not as much as I thought it would. It's very sturdy and if you're looking for a long extension bit, then this is what you're looking for.

I've seen lots of questions and reviews mentioning confusion over the two screws used to secure bits, so I attached a picture of the instructions. The instructions are a sticker on the shipping box, so I can see why many people would miss them. In any case, be sure that if you're not using a hex bit that you get both screws really tight on the bit. With bits that have the ends filed down in a triangular shape, you'll need to wiggle the bit a bit to be sure a flat surface is against the screw. What you really don't want to have happen is to have the bit come loose when it's in a finished wall that you can't reach.Required but not included is a 1/8" Allen wrench ("hex key") to tighten the screws. You can mostly tighten them with a 3mm, but it will slip before getting it really secure, and you have to get them really secure.I have used two of these together to double the length, and that works fine.I would not recommend trying to get much flex out of these. You can get away with putting a small hole in the drywall when drilling down and cover it up later with a blank electrical plate, but your resulting hole will be at an angle. I was able to recover one that I accidentally dropped into a wall using a hole like that, though.Note that I bought the 52" version (ETHX25052), though I see the listing has now changed to the 36" version. I assume the products are identical apart from the length.

I purchased both the 36" and 54" extensions as well as the 54" and 72" flex-bits (separate review for these items pending). First, they do not provide the tool to screw the mount-screws, having you find one that is compatible with its non-standard shape. Second, even after applying as much tightness as you can, combining the 36" or the 54" extensions with their own 54" or 72" flex-bit can become loose easily if it becomes hot enough (note below). Third, these extensions are not flexible as they appear in their videos or images. Flexibility is only possible if you have the full length of the extension in use, particularly towards the half-way point. Meaning, you will have incredible difficulty trying to bend this if its not at least half way up/down its extension point (try to break a pencil at 1/4 the length from the top vs in the middle and you'll know what I mean).Note: because of the weakness of the 54" and 72" flex-bits from Eagle Tools, I learned that if you're trying to drill the hole for a "long" period of time and its going nowhere, stop what you're doing and use another tip. Well, learning the hard way, the extension bit connection points react to thermal expansion poorly, so when it heats and cools, the mount screws loosens and when that happens, the drill bit its connected to is long gone. My walls somewhere between the 2nd floor and 1st floor now has three Eagle products stuck permanently in my home (36" extension, 54" and 72" flex-bit).

The shank is round and not hex as stated. This means it does not grip well in the drill chuck.

I bought this, I also bought something similar with a built in drill bit. This product is much better because if the drill bit gets dull you can simply change it out. It has proven plenty durable, as it would twist with tension if the drill bit binded up, and my drill would almost break my wrist from the torque. It's best to use a drill with a clutch whether using this product or not, but the point is it held up a lot of torque. It's also convenient to be able to change the size of the drill bit. The only down side I've seen is that the drill bits don't seem to fit all the way down into this extension and be held by both set screws. I tried many times with different bits and they only go in far enough for one of the two set screws to make contact. Despite the single set screw, the extension held the drill bit solid with no issues.

Used to drill from a new outlet location through the floor below to facilitate running wires. It barely had enough flex to reach the spot needed, thus the 2 stars for sturdiness, it is, perhaps, a bit too sturdy. The job was completed and the extension held up so the durability was good.

This is well designed. The shank is tri-sided (if that is the right word), meaning it wont slip in your drill easily. It wouldn't even slip in my keyless chuck. The 1/4" opening is perfect for attaching your own bits. 2x hex screws secure your bits. For my Irwin wood speed bore bits, only the top screw would set into the shank but I would imagine that is a limitation of the drill bits and not this extension. It is designed to accomodate varying sizes. Because it accepts hexagonal bits, slippage was not a problem even with the 1 set screw holding it in place.
