A fish hook is more than a formed piece of wire with a point on one end and an eyelet on the other. It represents the connecting point between you and your angling dreams, whether sitting on lawn chairs catching trout with friends and family or competing at the highest level in the sport. Since 1925, in Denver, Colorado, the men and women of Eagle Claw have been privileged to ensure that connection.

Good whippy fly/spin rod combo rod. Like another customer I had a problem with a tight section sticking but after a little sanding all good now. I’ll probably buy another one.

This pole is fine for panfish or rigged as a fly pole for trout. Zero backbone for bass or any other larger fish needing a strong hookset.

Exactly what I wanted, not for large game fishing but great for backpacking into wilderness lakes.

Haven’t fished it yet but I’ve had these rods for decades. Got this for my son. This is an older model made of fiberglass so it’s a bit heavier than the newer graphite models, but also less than half the price. It’s a bargain. These are the absolute best rods for fishing alpine lakes. That extra foot or so plus the whippiness of the fly/spin combo gives an extra 10 or 20 feet on your spinning casts which can be critical in some lakes. Gets you to less fished water and more time on the retrieve. I almost always catch more fish than my buddies and I think that’s why.Highly recommend, especially at this price. Can’t go wrong. This does not include the tube or case, though.

Awesome rod for a great price. I bought 2, one for my 10 year old grandson and one for me, for the small creeks around home. 5 stars for fast delivery too.

The tip section on my very similar Copper River spin/fly rod broke, and I wanted another go anywhere four-section spin/fly rod. The Copper River spin/fly rod seems to have had a manufacturing defect, as in an online discussion group, it seems EVERYONE is breaking them. I figured Eagle Claw would hold up better. My fly reel for this is a Cabela's and the spinning reel is Abu-Garcia.A very nice travel case for this rod can be easily made out of PVC water pipe.I would have preferred cork grips to the synthetic on this rod. My regular fly rod is one I made myself out of smoked Tonkin bamboo. I have that one grips I made out of beef thighbone, as my neighbor is a meatcutter.A reversible grip on a four-part fishing rod is a significant advantage for travel. My next home-built rod will have this feature, though that will also have bone grips.

When you consider the cost, it is worth the price and will do the job. Easy to pack and you won't get all bent out of shape if something happens to it.

This is the perfect trout and light bass rod. the action is light, but strong. I borrowed this rod from my friend to fish an Alpine lake in Wash State in a kaya and then bought one for myself after I got back home.. It is a bit long for a boat, but the control and the casting power and accuracy far outwiegh the issue of length. Plus, it breaks down conveniently to four pieces and thus is great for camping trips. Thereafter, I used this rod at Lake Sonoma in California and forgot to bring it in that night and someone stole it out of my boat. Well, since then I have bought another for myself and then yet another for my son's next birthday. You could say I like this rod plus it is a very very reasonable price for a great all around rod. And as far as that goes, I did not even mention that the handle is reversible and thus becomes a fly rod. Come to think of it, that is why it is a bit long because it needs be!

I have owned three of the Eagle Claw pack-it rods over the past 30+ years. My grandfather bought me one when I was 15, and that lasted for many years. Most recent purchase (#3) was to replace #2 which was damaged by no fault of its own. They are great for back packing, but the action is good enough for an everyday pole as well. I have used the pole for fly fishing as well as spin-casting, and it works well for both - again, more than just "good enough", a real reasonable pole for all seasons and purposes. No doubt that you can buy a better pole, but for the money you'd be hard pressed to find something better. And if you back pack, this is a must-have.

this is a classic pack rod... the guides and wrapping were nicely done...there is a hook keeper - a nice touch!however, it is not as pictured on the product page, and instead of a silver/brass metal reel holder, you'll get a black plastic rail and plastic threaded rings - these do not have the lifespan of metal and will NOT last!be aware of this issue - and frankly, considering the reasonable cost, it may not be a concern...just don't crank down to tighten your reel or you will snap the rings...the rod has a light action - a bit whippy w/some oscillation - i'd have to say the rod would best perform as a fly rod - especially for wet fly actionall in all, this is an OK rod and certainly fits the bill for travel or packing...now to find a nice tube/carrier...
