For at least a couple decades I've been changing brakes and the most strenuous part has been trying to get the caliper depressed enough to get the new pads in. I've always used quick clamps that are a real struggle to adapt for this purpose, and there is something unique with every car to get those to work and they barely do even in the best of scenarios. This tool is a big improvement for any caliper that does NOT require the caliper to be screwed back in and can simply be pressed back. It is simple and solidly built, and pays for itself by not breaking any more quick clamps I'm trying to force into use.

Excellent design and materials. Comes with two heavy gauge wire caliper hangers that are coated to prevent corrosion. Caliper tool/spreader has a 5.7mm thick plate which is in the heavy duty range to prevent bending. Caliper tool has a flat metal tip that is held in place with an o-ring so you can remove it to clean it or add some grease. All of the metal has a very good corrosion resistant coating. The screw is coated as well and the coating acts like a lubricant. I just put a tiny amount if silicone grease on the screw and inside the tip which already had a dab of grease inside. The very first brake job I did back in 1988 was difficult because all I had was some pliers and a cheap ratchet wrench kit. I had to use the tire iron to compress the caliper piston which is very difficult. This simple tool works exactly as designed and is much easier to use than a C-clamp.

What an upgrade over my previous brake piston tool! I ended up marring the old one because the plastic screw head was too small, and I had to use a crescent wrench to add more torque.Not with this one. Makes compressing the calipers way easier and provides enough torque to it by hand.Great upgrade. Good company too!

I recently used this brake caliper tool, and it made my brake job so much easier. It’s sturdy, simple to use, and pressed the pistons back smoothly with no trouble. The build quality feels solid, and it worked flawlessly for what I needed. Absolutely 5 stars for this handy tool!

This review is on the brake caliper piston compression tool and hangers from DURATECH. The images show details of the tools after unboxing. The listing provides all the relevant details of these tools and I won’t be repeating the information that is already stated. I will verify that these tools are quality made and I did not find any manufacturing defects or issues. This compression tool will enable you to apply square and even pressure when collapsing brake caliper pistons when installing new brake pads. The steel hangers are a great way for supporting calipers that will prevent damage to the flex hoses while performing this task. I have other tools from DURATECH that I regularly use and these caliper tools have the same quality in mind as I’ve come to expect from this brand. If you’re looking for a reliable and better tool for the job of replacing brake pads I would recommend these caliper tools from DURATECH

They are the right tool for a very common DIY automotive project.The knob is good for applying pressure gradually. Usually, the knob is enough. If you need more torque, apply a wrench or socket.The plastic cap protects the piston, but is removable. You might want to if you find another application to use the tool as a puller (if you can secure the plate). The included, long, S-hooks might help there. Doing brakes, they are handy for hanging items out of the way.
