As a professional automotive technician, having the right tools to do a job makes work go faster and keeps from damaging anything by not using the correct tool for the job. This driveshaft seperater is built very well and works great. It is made of steel and has cleanly threaded holes and decent hardware. It is designed like the GM tool and is used in conjunction with a slide hammer. This tool separates the rear driveshaft on some GM vehicles. You could use other methods to do it but you risk damaging or breaking parts of the shaft or the rear differential. 5 stars for quality and value.
