My 2008 BMW had an annoying squeaking noise coming from the serpentine belt.I replaced the belt along with this new idler pully and now it's totally silent.Note that there is also a tensioner pully that you may need to replace. The tensioner pully is closer to the center of the engine while this idler pully is located to the right of tensioner pully (when facing the front of the engine).

This idler pulley feels smooth, and fit perfectly - a little hard to see in my picture, I forgot to take a shot before closing up!Always a good idea to change these when replacing the belt, it's cheap insurance to not have to do the job again!

I was pretty sure this was supposed to fit as a replacement for the hydraulic tensioner on my e39 530i, but the pulley hub was different between this one and what was already in the car. Not sure what the deal is there, but other people seem to have had no issues.I will say the pulley bearing feels alright, and the pulley surface is good. I don't see any reason this pulley wouldn't work well wherever it fits.

I’ve had other replacement pulleys not perfectly match before so happy this is a one for one swap. No markings on bearing so only time will tell if it lasts as long as NSK bearing. I usually get a year out of my pulleys before they start squealing, do a lot of soft roading in sandy and dusty trails so it hard on my bearings.
