High Speed Steel Hand Taps come in three styles: Taper Style: Starts the thread square with the workpiece. Plug Style: Generally used in thru holes. Bottom Style: Generate the thread to the bottom of the hole. A tap set contains 1 taper, 1 plug and 1 bottoming tap.

What a great idea to have all 3 type of taps in a set. You used to have to search everywhere to find a bottoming tap when you needed it. Now I got them all in one place, ready if I need a couple of more threads. I only had 0.300 of depth on these holes so I needed every thread I could get. Worked beautifully to start the hole with the plug tap and then when it hit bottom switch out to the bottoming tap to finish the hole. And not to mention these taps are perfectly cut and extremely sharp. They cut like butter through the aluminum I was tapping.

The ad was misleading...it shows three bottoming taps...thats what i expected..I received three taps but only one bottoming tap

I searched for bottoming taps. The picture shows 3 bottoming taps and is very misleading. I received 2 tapered taps and 1 bottoming tap so I sent it back. The second one came in the same way. Now I read it's a taper, plug, and bottoming tap. I recommend the seller fix the picture to match the product.

I've looking for a tap that will last while doing railroad spikes.So far I have beaten the old record of about 25 and I'm currently on number 50 and the taps look great.Just going slow and easy while listening to some good old country music.

Use these taps for cast iron. Cut smooth as butter. I’ll buy more of this product when The time comes.No cons on my end. Have worked on several holes so far with zero issue.
