I am doing some plumbing around the house and I had to buy this set to run through the threads of the copper fittings that I am buying from Home Depot. Since the copper fittings are made in China, they are substandard and low quality. Having damaged copper fittings will ruin your plumbing projects really quick. These are life savers.

I needed to thread a 3/4 inch water pipe, this seemed like the best way to get a die and have other sizes if needed later. Received it promptly and the die worked great.

Eventhough I had a Ridgid pipe threading kit, I encountered some galvanized pipes that had "grown" in diameter as rust had formed. The threads needed to be chased for new end fittings, but my pipe threader would not fit over the pipe b/c of the rust. The pipe chasers in this kit were perfect for the job.

Go big or go home ... some times your set just doesn’t cover all the bases. This is a nice edition to a large set, may not use it a lot but at least I have what it takes. Very good quality in a nice storage case. I bought both the tap set and the die set. 6 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️‘S

My husband is a hands-on type of guy, and he loves all types of tools to help him do lots of stuff around our country home. When I saw this set, I knew he’d love it. Most of the time that my husband needs a pipe die is when he’s cleaning gunked-up pipe threads or re-form threads that are bent, mangled, or were poorly cut to begin with; only occasionally does he need to cut new threads on a custom length of pipe. For this he’s been using his dad's old set of pipe dies but they're incomplete and he only has 1/4", 1/2", and 3/4". Fortunately, these are also the sizes he encounters the most but, when he needs one of the others, he’s had to borrow a set from a friend. This set has all of the sizes needed for typical most residential and light commercial pneumatic, gas, and water applications. He has pipe odds-and-ends for all of the sizes in this set and he tested each one of them at both thread-chasing and new cutting with a die-handle (not a power drive). All of the dies in this set work as they should and have a proper NPT taper that works great at cleaning dried-up pipe sealant. They also do a good job at cutting new threads without excessive chip binding, needing to be reversed only a few times during the cut. It will be a couple of years before he can comment on their longevity but they should stay sharp if thread cutting oil is used every time when cutting new threads or even just WD-40 when re-forming threads. Even though the dies themselves seem to be pretty good quality, the box they came in is absurdly cheap and of extremely poor quality; in fact, one of the latches pulled out of the wood the first time we opened the set. Not only was one of the latch screws bent, the latch material itself is so thin that it can be easily bent. The hinge is okay but not great and we’re not as concerned about it failing. A plastic box really would be much better for these because the residual oil on the dies has already started soaking into the wood. The value for the price isn't really that good considering there are name-brand sets at comparable prices that come in a plastic box; I'd give it a four it were cheaper.
