Having little people around your home means you are going to end up with clogged toilets. It's just the way it is. I've been through four girls and now with a granddaughter I'm just waiting for her to take her turn. Luckily, there are devices out to help out and this is definitely one of them.I went to use it and was not expecting it to be that heavy at all. I kind of want to use it to do dumbbell curls. The bonus to that is it at least confirms that it as strong as it looks. Now of course, do not go thinking you are going to clean out your main line with this. It's not made for it. My kitchen and bathroom sinks on the other hand are now free and clear of hair, make up and who knows what else has fallen down there. My wife actually did the first one by herself while I was at work. She had it on and down the sink before I even knew what was going on. We had to do the first sink a few times. That turned out to be an issue with a dying battery on my drill. Nothing at all to blame on the cleaner. It's super easy to use and does a great job without too much hassle. Just be aware it's a little heavy.

This is, in every other way, an excellent tool, quality built, on the heavy side but it has fifty feet of tightly coiled steel wire inside a decently thick gauge steel drum. The handle and crank are plastic, but very sturdy. I had a tub that refused to drain anymore, ended up using this, I didn't even have to use the power drill I brought out for it, the rigidity of the steel coils was enough that it just pushed through the stubborn clog when multiple applications of different drain cleaning products didn't touch it. This is a great drain snake as a manual snake, but I have to agree with some of the reviewers that the decision to make the shaft that the drill chuck grabs a round profile instead of a hexagonal one is odd, the round shaft is much more difficult to get a tight grip on then the standard hex.Otherwise, this is a great flexible shaft, works great as a manual, and decent as a powered option, plenty of simple instructions to guide even a newbie like me through the steps to successful use.

I have a recurring issue with my drain that is just about 45' from where I have access, so I got the 50' one. At the time, I wondered why anyone would get a smaller one. The answer is, it's heavy. So do get the length you need.I didn't have a current clog, but I ran this down as a test and perhaps as a bit of preventative maintenance. For the first 20 feet or so, I just used the hand crank as I did with my old manual-only one. But as I went farther, using my cordless drill instead made it go faster than it would have manually and I did get to and through the problem spot (there is a "bump" I can feel when I do so).The thing that did strike me as a poor design decision and resulted in the loss of a star is that the bit to which the drill attaches is round rather than hexagonal. Given the weight of the snake, it's a bit hard to get the chuck completely tight. If it were hexagonal rather than round, that wouldn't matter so much. Even when fully tight, a chuck can slip on a round bit while it cannot on a hexagonal one. And you also can't use a typical impact driver with it, though one might help in some cases.

I have a few rental units and as a landlord, you are always getting the call to fix the tenant plumbing issues. Having a drain snake is near the top of the list. Yes, I can spend a little less and going with a 25ft unit but I need to have the flexibility and not going to skip a few dollars. Instead this 50ft is the longest I can find for a handheld unit (I do have a 100ft. commercial floor snake but that is very inconvenient to lug around). It's easy to use and you can either turn it manually or use a drill. My 20v drill turns this with no problem when it is fully extended. The snake is slightly heavy but not that difficult to control. Since it doesn't have a cutting head (or changeable for that matter), it's for moderate clogging. Some things I wish could be improved: It has a metal body. While this is good if it gets banged up when transporting and storing with other items, I wonder how this compares with plastic which doesn't rust. The second thing is that the drill attachment point is round and not a hex shape (to prevent possible slipping). I haven't had any issues - and the attachment piece does have grooves to prevent slipping but having a hex shape I would expect to work better. Nonetheless, it's an essential thing to have if you need to clear lines quickly.

seems to depend on what types of pipe you have but the spiral tip gets stuck and winds back up without unclogging anything, lack of instructions, cord constantly winds back up into itself, feels heavy duty though
